A facebook page I currently run is getting a threat from someone who I am assuming is not using their actual identity.
Ill relay the message.
Quote:
Oh if that don't work, i will just trace the msg to your computers hard drive, locate the location of the computer i.d, post the location and watch as all hell breaks loose for you. Im not fronting either. I got permanently banned off Xbox live for illegal software, credit card theft, hacking, and tampering with their software. You don't think i couldn't find out your exact location then you've got another thing coming. Simply delete or rename your page and you won't ever hear from me again. thanks!

Why don't you look up NMAP and SUPER-SCAN- Tell me I am a joke.
If this person has no clue as to my identity and only had facebook and a couple facebook messages, do I really have anything to worry about? I am in the process of screenshotting the messages and reporting them to facebook.

He probably can't do anything other than email you trojan horse applications, or friend request you from fake female facebook accounts and send you a malicious boobs.exe.
Nmap and super-scan are useless to hack facebook users. He can't nmap you because facebook keeps your IP secret, and even if he tricks you into giving your IP away by sending you a link and watching the web server logs for when you click on it, your router probably drops inbound packets.
Nmap is a powerful hacking tool but useless against facebook users 99.9% of the time.
He can't do anything so he is trying a social engineering attack. How adorable!

Just report him, sounds like a total dumbass.
Probably not that difficult to find you though. If you click on any links he controls he'll easily have your IP. From there it's not terribly difficult to find you.

Actually it's pretty hard to turn an IP address into a physical address. You need to either hack the ISP or subpoena them. Most people can't get anything useful out of just an IP since most routers block all incoming connections.

The IP will get them to your town, or at least local ISP. Usually not to hard to socially engineer the ISP into giving an address. Otherwise you can file any sort of bogus suit and use that to subpoena the information.
I'm sure there are other ways also. It might be semi-difficult, but not terribly difficult. I've been found once before from an IP.

Yeah most he could do is see the area you live in, not literal address..
Just don't worry about him.

Speaking as someone who works as a computer tech/IT for 45+ hours a week, I can tell you this guy hasn't a clue what he's talking about.

Based on his own statements he seems to have zero ability to hack anything at all. He is a script kiddie. In ten years he will wake up out of his haze of thinking he's a badass hacker and realize that if had tried to become one he could have, but only ever was a script kiddie instead.
