EMS shipping / tracking / signature questions

Oooook, so. I ordered some scheduled prescriptions from a vendor out of Argentina, and despite requests for no tracking they sent it EMS anyways. So is there any way to avoid a signature requirement within the US?
I have no doubt the packaging would be good and I could probably sign for it, but I wouldn't know the difference between a love letter and a legitimate signature required letter.
Is there any way possible to not sign for it? Or any good way to grab it from the PO if push comes to shove? Like as soon as I sign am I immediately open to arrest? The vendor reports love letters only comes from customs, so if it makes it through customs, it is apparently in the clear. Any truth to that?
I am fucking pissed off right now, I cannot believe they sent it fucking EMS. Any advice regarding receiving would be appreciated.

Probably not.
Many foreign drug vendors send with a method that requires a signature so they don't get ripped off by the customer.
Just go sign for it.
Not getting it would be riskier, as they would have to return it to sender, and if there is a fake return address it might get opened.

I figured that was probably going to be the answer. Do you by chance know if there is any truth to the claim that if it clears customs, it should be safe to get? I'm trying to figure out whether I should take some days off work in case I get arrested on the spot.
And is there any deniability for a signed pack or is that pretty much open and shut?
I'm really not looking forward to signing for this pack at a post office, any insight is appreciated to calm my nerves a bit.

Its certainly not true- if the government wants to bust you they will generally do a controlled delivery with the actual drug (sometimes a very small qty). For anticipatory warrants, they need you to get the package before they can search the premises, so them delivering it doesn't indicate they aren't after you.
Now, whether or not customs/postal inspectors/dea cares to go through all that is up to them. If they aren't particularly interested, they'll just take the drugs and send you a letter, perhaps contact your local police.

deniability for what? Signing for a package that contains drugs doesn't by itself render you guilty under US federal law. You have to intentionally possess the item (or buy it). The reason they want the signature is probably partly an excuse to alert you to the package's presence so you take possession of it and trigger the warrant immediately and partly to show you taking some affirmative step of possessing the item.
Generally its going to be the confessions/statements the accused makes after the warrant is executed and the evidence that is turned up that will convict them. Since pretty much everybody confesses to something, just showing up with the warrant is probably enough in most cases.

You may be able to waive an in-person signature by signing the card they leave and requesting redelivery (I'm not sure). This doesn't have much legal relevance, but it may give you more peace of mind. Even without the signature they can just watch the package and execute the warrant when you take it.

Now when you say a warrant, do you mean signing for a pack could result in a warrant to search a house for evidence to get a conviction? Or a warrant to open the pack and arrest me on the spot?
I figured if anything were to happen, a police officer would appear around the corner after I signed and arrest me on the spot, or pull me over a block away from the post office so they can search and seize my car as well.
It's a relatively small / personal amount so I'd have a hard time believing they'd coordinate a whole home invasion, but I'd like to prepare for the worst so I can walk into this prepared for the possible recourse.

I mean a warrant to search the premises that the pack is addressed to. How this usually works is they don't know anything about you and thus have no probable cause to search your house, but do have probable cause to believe that the package contains drugs, and so will get an anticipatory warrant that allows them to search the premises only after you've accepted it. The theory here is that since they know the package contains drugs, they will have PC to search once you possess the package at the premises even if they don't have PC beforehand.
The judicial officer will sign a warrant in such a case that grants them the right to search only after the package is delivered to the residence and brought inside, from what I've read. If you don't accept the package, they can't search. Signing for the package doesn't matter for purposes of whether they can execute the anticipatory warrant, the triger is always acceptance from what I've read. (this doesn't stop them from searching should they get a warrant that isn't limited, i.e. they get evidence establishing PC whether or not you get the package).

Maybe. Or they might follow you to your house and then execute a warrant on the house. I don't know. I've never heard of this going down at the post office, only at the address on the package. Since the package itself likely isn't enough for a conviction, they're probably going to want to search the house and try and find some evidence you use drugs/ordered something to maek their case and convince you to confess. Even if the package doesn't need a signature, they may show up wanting a signature for it if its a controlled delivery.
In any case, most people seem to just get the stuff confiscated for minor amounts of drugs- the above is just how it goes down should they decide to try and nail you.

Yes, I agree its unlikely.
To prepare for the worst have no drugs or evidence of drug use on your person or at your home and nothing on your compuater that links to such things. Then, most importantly, make no statements except a refusal to consent and a request for a lawyer.

I really appreciate both your input, I'm going to see if I can find a waiver to fill out ag the PO in advance, and as far as I'm concerned the pack can sit at its delivery address box for months.
If that doesn't work out I'll clean house and hope for the best signing for it.

So I got the low down from the PO that the signature cannot be waived with any forms or anything, and said that it would need to be picked up in person, and that there are two possible signature requirements. The first is anyone can show up with the slip to sign for it, the second is restricted signature required, where only the person it is addressed to can sign for it.
So I'm wondering if anyone may have some input as to whether I should bail if its restricted signature required, or if that is fairly normal practice, as that would put a LOT more pressure on the pick up if it requires me specifically to sign for it.

Something doesn't feel right about it. Id be more paranoid knowing that the post office people now know I came in and asked questions about he signature part.
Id bail. Just my thoughts though.

I actually just called and explained that I didn't realize the shipping method for my item required a signature, and that I wouldn't be home to sign for it, and just asked if I could sign something for the postman and leave it in the box.
So really the call itself was very casual to me and didn't set off any alarms in my head, the only thing that will really set off an alarm is if its a restricted signature slip in my box. At this point that's my only remaining concern.
I'd imagine any kind of controlled hand off would be set up so I am there, which is why thats really become my main concern.

Nah just sign for it either way.
You already went through the hassle of buying and paying for the drugs, it doesn't make sense to chicken out at the last second.

Just went and signed for it today, there was a redelivery option on the slip, but you have to go in and digitally sign for the stuff anyways so I decided to go for it.
The old lady behind the counter was flexing it and eyeballing it so damn hard my hands were slightly trembling, like she knew it was something illegal, however I grabbed it and made off none the less.
Nothing else has happened since, so I'm assuming I can finally get back some peace of mind about that whole episode.

Wait a few more hours, perhaps until the end of this day, to open it just in case. But honestly you should be okay. I'd only worry if the vendor HADN'T sent EMS and you had to sign for it.

Nothing is going to happen and lighting won't strike either, though it could. Unless you ordered 1000 of something scheduled 3 to 5 or a schedule 1 they will simply toss it out usually and sometimes send a love letter and sometimes they don't bother, they just toss it. The stuff you see on tv is very very rare. I know people who have gotten over 100 deliveries and the worst that ever happened is a ll. I've known people who ordered 1000 at a time about once a month and got away with it for years and are still at it. 1000 is not the mark of a kingpin though they will try to sell it that way if they make an arrest. They know a lot of users stock up once a year. Now 5,000 to 10,000 might force them to act even if doughnuts need to be eaten.
If you are running a grow op you have a lot more to lose so i would say do not order to where you are growing just on the off chance something might go wrong. Virtually all overseas pharmacies require a sig whether its ems or registered mail you still gotta sign. In a few cases you can tell them you will take all risks of it not coming and they will send regular mail. Then your main risk is a rip off from the sender but its nice knowing it will just land in your mailbox and you need not take it in until you are good and ready.
