okay... i have a shitload of mushrooms growing around my yard, so i attempted to identify them... so far they seem to be Copelandia cyanescens i haven't taken prints yet but i was wondering if there are other types of shrooms that they could be mistaken for?

by the picture on this site i'd have to say they look exactly the same
but i'm not going to go by a picture...

anyways... i just figured out how to work this camera of mine so i'll take pictures and post them in a few

oh yeah another thing is... i live in upstate new york... not too far though... maybe 45 mins from the PA border which i thought was odd because of where it says they grow... but the weather around here lately has been... hot and humid and i just got back from vacation so the lawn is all untamed and there's plenty growing

They are absolutely NOT Copelandia cyanescens.

Id bet money that they are Conocybe lactea.... which will make you sick if you eat them.

Copes are a tropical and sub tropical species found in ducg and sometimes a rich lawn. A few years ago a church in Switzerland was covered like a rug with Copelandia bispora with manure brought in from Africa. They are also know of on Hawaii.

Howeverr, the following year, no shrooms reappaered.

Stamets claimed to have found one specimen of Panaeolus africanus on elephant dung at the Seattle Zoo, but I am in doubt about that ID since the elephant had been at the zoo for many years and Seattle is too cold for most. Paul and I both have picked a few Copelandia cyanescens specimens at the riding stbles we visit in Tumwater over the years but never more than one or two specimens during a long twenty five years. So I agree you probably have some sorrt of non-active Conocybe in your lawn.
