Storing fresh shrooms

The only info I could find in the FAQ was this
Quote:
Stored in a paper bag or a container allowing evaporation they will keep, depending on your refrigerator, around a week.
Does anyone know any good teks for storing fresh shrooms (that doesn't involve drying them out?) I've searched past posts and have heard that storing in a paper bag to allow evaporation works well, but only for a few days... I was thinking that the tek involving the exclusion of air using compressed freon might work... if fresh shrooms were kept in an airtight container excluded of oxygen, would they still decompose and lose potency?
(In case any of you are wondering why, it's because fresh shrooms are legal in the UK, and dried aren't)
Thanks for any help you can give me

Eat them, and store the memory in your brain . No, seriously, someone should help all of the UK people out.

From what I've heard they have to be in a container that allows air exchange if not they will turn into goop.

Yeah, I've heard the same thing, but what I suspect is that without air exchange the turn to as goop as the humidity gets too high, and with air exchange they oxidise and start to rot. Anyone else got any ideas?

If you have a frost-free refrigerator, you can dry them in your fridge. Hasn't anyone noticed this with the supermarket agaricus? But it could be too humid in there to dry, and when I unknowingly did it, they were slightly more blue and bruised then if they were dessicant dried. These were with B+, and PB pftq.

You should be happy that you can have fresh mushrooms, your laws encourage sole use, but discourage selling.... damn you're lucky

Yeah man, that's a good point... although I'm pretty sure it's more to do with the inadeqeauses of the British legal system than any inherint liberality... mores the pity

Dry them then rehydrate them. Or soak them in water....that might work

blue gloob yes, nastiness no . as long as it's kept frozen it's fine . within reasonable limits of course . obviously you wouldn't want to do this if the shrooms have Bacterial Blotch .
