iPad location services work-around? (mlb.tv)

I am having a bit of trouble tricking my ipad into thinking that I live in France. Apparently the iPad uses "location services uses crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspot locations to determine your approximate location". This is a problem for me because even though my proxy server is located in France, MLB.tv must use the location service which points to where I am actually located and therefore I am blacked out of watching my team on the device best suited for me to do so. This is particularly annoying because pointing my IP address to a proxy server works fine to bypass the blackout restrictions on every other device that I use such as my computer and my iPhone.
My question is this: How do I get around the location services issue? It's a first generation iPad so I believe it should be easy for me to jailbreak it, but obviously I would prefer if I didn't have to do that. The model number is MB293LL and the version number (I am assuming this is the firmware version) is 5.1.1 (9B206). Thanks if anyone knows anything!

have you tried just disabling location services all together? perhaps then it will fall back to the location data resolved from the proxy ip ?

Yes, it was the first thing that I tried because it works for my iPhone. Location services have to be on, and turned on for mlb.tv.

have you looked at using a VPN as opposed to a proxy? could end up being more hassle than its worth. failing that, it looks like it's down to jail breaking, or take a holiday.

I need good, reliable instructions if I am going to jailbreak it. I don't want to break it because I won't be able to get a new one. Any recommendations?

google how to jailbreak your devise + what firmware it is on. which ever tool it points you to is as simple as connect to pc, program detects your devise, hit the jailbreak button (usually its the only button on the program). unjailbroken ios is not even worth having imho.

i'm not sure, but i know you have to know at least one person with windoze or mac who doesn't mind you running a program that doesn't even need to be installed and can be ran from a flash drive.
