euphorbia resinifera from seed?
    #18086399 - 04/10/13 11:03 AM (10 years, 10 months ago)

hello,

I'd like to know if any of you have experience on growing euphorbia from seed.

I googled around and found that species vary a bit in needs and since I have just a few e.resinifera seeds I want to avoid screwing something.

any reference and info is welcome

thank you

I grew Euphorbia obesa from seed 2 months ago using a standard cactus
seed mix, sterilized in the microwave.  Sow the seeds and sprinkle some
sand on top, and you should be set.

I'm not sure what you mean, but I germinated them in my cactus mix
filled pot, which was within a sealed plastic bag.  Keep that humidity
up in the beginning one way or another.  I gradually cut slits in the
bag over a couple of weeks, after which they got exposed to room
humidity.

that's what I meant  keeping the seeds/seedlings in such a high humidity environment for some time. only difference is that I'm quite sure cacti seedlings perform better with at least 6 months of high RH instead of just 2 weeks

Misunderstanding.  I left them in the bag for ~1 month, then cut the
initial slits and acclimated them for about 2 weeks.  The time to leave
them in high humidity seems to be more personal preference; I took mine
out that early because there were some funky bacterias/fungi growing on
the soil surface.
