9 days since innoculation...
    #1809663 - 08/13/03 01:59 PM (20 years, 7 months ago)

I innoculated 6 jars 9 days ago with GT and there are no signs of germination

I was thinking of re-innoculating half of them with pesa today, just incase they weren't viable(I got them from a shroomerite, not a vendor)

I would rather to have GTs and I was wondering if they suddenly sprouted some mycelia in the next few days if the pesa spores would be a problem?

When did you innoculate them? Right after pc'ing? Or did you leave them to cool overnight?

Some people say a minimum of 6 hours, or cool to the touch

I let them cool for an entire day just to be sure

I know what to do, I was asking how you did it to find out if maybe you innoculated to spores when the jars were still hot, but i guess not. Are you incubating them? If yes at what temp?

what temps are you incubating at?
give them 1 more week and if nothing pitch them out DO NOT re-inocculate bad jars as it is a very bad idea...fresh inoculation means fresh jars

at least thats whaqt kramer says

Incubating at 80 - 82

>DO NOT re-inocculate
Hes right, if nothing shows up in another week, fix up new jars and innoculate. Good Luck.

If youre innoculating at low temps it will take a longer time, so then a week isnt too bad.

Now why wouldn't you innoculate sterile jars? If they haven't grown anything, and the substrate is still wet, it works just fine! I would go for it, don't waste perfectly good substrate.

you cant see all contamination, what looks like perfectly normal jars could be contamimated

What kind of substrate are you using? PF cake or WBS, etc..
I know where those syringes came from and the spores contained within colonized 1 pint WBS jars in 7 days here.

I agree dont re-innoc. If they didnt germ the first time in that jar they prob wont do it again. Just save your spores and innoc some more. Except this time do a karo syrup liquid culture tek. It only takes 1cc and gaves me 10 syringes full of mycelium. A great great investment! If you have any ques just PM and Ill help you with it.

Yes they were from the same batch. From what I have seen 1 pint pf cakes take awhile to colonize.

not me.

chances are if nothing grew, something wasn't right with it. and chances also are that the substrate is probably cheaper and more disposable than the spores. why take the risk? if something fails at the first hurdle, start over, says monkey.
