I think it would be a bit of a disaster. But who or what the Astros are will not be defined for a year or two. (Like KC proving they were not a one year phenomena). If the Cubs lose to St.Louis, Los Angeles, Toronto, they can hold their heads high. If they won or lost to the Astros in the World Series its a bit of a let down.
I know the White Sox were disgusted that they had to play the Astros in their record setting Postseason, and the 85 Bears thought the Patriots sucked (which they did) and wanted a rematch with Marino and Miami, the only team to beat them.
Maybe the Astros are good, but nobody knows yet. The Cubs are on the right track though. Building from within in the salary cap era is the way to go.

The best thing that ever happened to the Yankees of 90's vintage was Steinbrenner's suspension and them doing exactly that.

I'm a Twins fan but never expect too much from them lol, although they did almost sneak into the wild card this year. My NL team is the Cubs though, not really a big fan or anything but since I grew up in the Des Moines area I used to go to IA Cubs games (AAA?) when I was a little kid. Not that I remember that much haha, but hey what is being a "fan" of a team in the first place? I'm not one to jump on bandwagons! I always like seeing a well played game in any sport, but I digress.
I called it about a week ago - if the Cubs can win half their games when Arrieta isn't pitching, I'm picking them to win the WS. I think Arrieta is straight unhittable and I love watching him pitch. He's even got a nice lil 2 seamer like I used to throw. I like seeing hard hit balls all over the field, and over the fence, as much as the next guy, but I also love seeing tight, well pitched games when most pitches are hitting their spots and making hitters look foolish. 'Da Cubbies got a shot!
@ CF - yea that's exactly what I'm talking about when it comes to pitching I think Kershaw started OK too IIRC, wasn't able to catch the latter half of the game though since I just had to get some homework done. Time for SportsCenter soon
Kershaw now 0-5 I think in the Postseason and Price 0-6. Funny how that works, you always think "it can't continue" but playoff teams are indeed a touch above the rest. Pitching is paramount!
I gotta watch all of game 2 of the LA/NY series. Grienke vs. Syndegaard (sp?) will be a great match up too. I remember watching a Mets game over the summer when deGrom was pitching and they mentioned how all the Mets starters bring the heat

Ikr! Godly pitching
deGrom is the reason why I started watching baseball last year and now he just got his first win in the post season with 13 strikeouts

That's killer - 13 K's. Gently walking half their night's hitters back to the dugout
Nice to see a developing fan nowadays baseball is hard for most people to get into, especially the pitching aspect, it's really cool to see you appreciating the finer arts of pitching hoping for more close games in that series!

The Dodgers in the postseason
Kershaw is at least 0-5, I thought it was 0-7.

I know you're supposed to break up the double play, but that wasn't really a slide. Oh well, big names get special treatment in every sport.

That was a slide that I have seen hundreds if not thousands of times. That little stupid spin move by Tejada put him at risk. I also found it rather odd that they called Utley safe when he never touched the bag.

Astros are having a meltdown for the ages.
Up 6-2 going into the 8th -- 6 outs away from the ALCS, and KC has now reeled off 6 hits in a row. And there are still no outs.
6-6.

Dude...Astros. What a meltdown.
Had a 4 run lead with 6 outs left to get, and now they're down by 3.
