Ok, 3 teams from each league win their division, how do you set that up?
Do you not want wildcard in any other sport either?

That's too easy. I like the fact the Giants had to win 12 games last postseason.

I think it gets dragged out too long. I think basketball and hockey shouldn't let so many teams in either. Playoff fatigue.

I like the NBA playoffs. It does take forever but to me it works. You can only watch a few games here and there during the regular season and then start watching closely when the playoffs happen and by the time the finals start you're pretty well-versed on the NBA. The only thing is it's easy to overlook really good players for teams that don't make the playoffs. I watch game highlights from NBA Game Time or whatever they call it during the regular season. The show the run all night on NBA TV.
I know people who watch every single regular season Hawks game on NBA League Pass or whatever. I'd need to be put on the payroll to do that.

In the NBA half the league makes the playoffs and at least half of the first round series' are no contest. 1-8 and 2-7 are wastes of time. 3-6 is sometimes interesting but not usually.

I did that when the Pistons were making their 6 straight Eastern Conference Finals run from like 2002 to 2008 or whatever. Had League Pass and probably caught like 75 regular season games a season.
Now obviously I don't do that anymore since their ceiling for the past 6 or whatever years is like 32 wins

I watch the majority of the Giants regular season games. If I'm home and they're playing then it's going to be on my TV, winning season or not.

I still enjoy those 1-8 first round series. I'd be ok if they made them best out of five. The first round used to be best out of five anyway. The regular season doesn't need to be 82 games. Half as many would still be too many imo.
And yeah Niffla I thought about those Bad Boys Pistons teams when you were bellyaching about The Lions. Not to mention the Red Wings. You could be from Cleveland, dude. Talk about agony. And you know what? I don't think LeBron is going to win them one. If he doesn't, that'll be like if you never got to even fuck your own wife but she cheated on you for four years while you watched.

Back when The Braves used to be on TBS I used to be like that except I listened to a lot of the games on the radio. This kind of relates to what Niffla posted about The Lions but I think baseball is the most heartbreakingest sport to get really invested in. The Giants have had so much success recently. The Braves have been great but what was it? Like 20 post-season disappointments in a row? And you have to buy MLB whatever now. I don't know. I'm not sure how long ago it was but that year that the Braves lost on that infield fly call and the fans threw trash all over the field.
...
Fuck

Shit had me rolling.
But yeah Cleveland fans have had it rough, man. Gotta be the worst among all cities with professional teams, right? Last time they've had a title in any of the professional sports was in 1964 with the Browns, and that was before the Superbowl era.

Yeah obviously you know better than anybody that they came up short but oh so close a bunch of times, but at least they've been relevant and playing for something more often (much more often) than not. At minimum there's two-thirds of the league (probably more) that would've traded places in a heartbeat with the Braves to have the amount of success they've had. And hey, you also have that 95' title at least (as far as recent memory championships go).

The Braves had the misfortune to be good in one of the Yankee dynasty eras. The same is true of the Dodgers

I do cherish that recent championship 20 years ago. But honestly, before the Braves made the worst to first transition like in 88 or whatever it was, I used to love the Bad News Braves. It seems like The Braves ended up in last place ten seasons in a row and I fucking loved those guys! Fat fucking Bob Horner and all of them. I used to love listening to Skip Caray talk about how it just wasn't the Braves night and how we were still in "the cellar". Once I got it in my head that winning was something a reasonable fan could expect I started getting it all twisted.

Yep. The Braves wanted to pretend we were the team of the nineties but that just wasn't reality. But still we got that one. When I think about what the Bulls did to Stockton and Malone. To be that good and not even get one. That's just too fucking much.

I didn't think this was going to be the Yankees year, but the Astros, fuck.
The Cubs are winning 4-0. We are living in strange times.

Cubs win. If I were a Cubs fan I'd be really cautious about getting my hopes up.
