Jays have moved onto the Indians front office now.
Duquette is going to be a busy man this offseason, plenty of free agents on their way out in Baltimore. Angelos might need to open up the pocket book this winter.

yeah...this is truth...Angelos has dust in his pocketbook...I guess, it was nice while it lasted. Still can't get over letting Markakis AND Nellie Cruz go last year.

Really wish the Yankees would start losing games. Braves weren't any help and the Red Sox didn't do fare much better.
Hoping the Orioles continue their poor play throughout the weekend and go away quietly. It's time for the Jays to get a little distance from the Yankees.

No pitcher has struck out 300 since Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling did it in 2002. This year Clayton Kershaw and Chris Sale have legitimate shots at it. 300 Ks has only been accomplished 33 times in history, by 14 pitchers. Randy Johnson and Nolan Ryan each did it 6 times.

Nolan Ryan is one of the most overrated pitchers ever. He was good but he was eminently beatable even in his prime. He had his days. He did not have his seasons.

On what planet was Nolan Ryan overrated?
* 106.7 career WAR * 2.97 fip * 3.19 ERA * 5714 k's * twice he pitched over 325 innings in a season. (nobody will ever do this again) * 7 no hitters. (nobody will ever do this again.) * only player ever to play in 4 decades. (nobody will ever do this again) * struck out 7 pairs of fathers and sons. (nobody will ever do this again)
If anything, Nolan Ryan was underrated having to play the majority of his career in Houston and Texas.

I have been arguing that Nolan Ryan was overrated for decades. Everybody knows his accomplishments. But he also lost close to 300 games and averaged 4.7 walks/9 innings. When he beat Sandy Koufax's record for strikeouts in a year, he walked 91 more than Koufax. His career record 5714 strikeouts surpassed Randy Johnson by 839. His record high career walks 0f 2795 is 962 higher more than runner up Steve Carlton. He was also a bad fielder.
His supporters will argue with the bad teams he played on. It's true that he played on all the original 4 expansion teams. He was too young to break into the rotation on the 69 miracle Mets and mainly did spot starts and relief work. In 1987, on the Astros, at the age of 40 he lead the major leagues in ERA and strikeouts and finished 8-16.
I counter this with Steve Carlton. He won 27 games on the 72 Phillies who won 59 games total. A great pitcher can win on an awful team.
Nolan Ryan is overrated. He reminds me of a high school friend who could throw right around 100 mph. I saw him pitch at the local college. He struck out 11 and walked 13. They got him out of there after 7 innings and he took the loss.

24 players played in 4 decades, some long ago, but many are quite modern.

Yes, he walked a few too many, but that doesn't make him overrated. I don't really care about how many games he lost, and referencing his age 40 season proves just how weak your argument is. Nolan Ryan is a clear cut HOF player and I don't see anyway you can argue this.

Hahah right... you say that now until he starts losing games for the giants. Actually I'm ok with it go ahead and keep him. More losses for the Giants is always a win for my Dodgers.

Toronto has a half game lead over KC for home field throughout the postseason. Toronto played better in their last ten, but they lost 2 in a row.
The Jays may end up regretting benching all the regulars in the 2nd game of a doubleheader yesterday.
Toronto has gained 12 games on KC since July 28, and if they tie, the Jays have a 4-3 head to head advantage.

He's been solid since the Giants picked him up. Just wait til we sign another top notch starter this offseason (to go with Mad Bum), gonna fuck some people up next season.
Besides, we all know Dodgers aren't doing shit in the postseason.
