It didn't help that their golden boy Verlander got owned by the Giants in the World Series

Toronto was 8 games behind the Yankees 12 days ago and it wasn't considered a race. Now they are 1.5 games back. This has been a team effort, but picking up David Price and Troy Tulowitski at the trade deadline had to be a confidence boost that management will give this team every chance to win.
Money is pouring into Vegas and most of the sports books now have the Blue Jays just behind KC to win the pennant.

Yeeeaaa fuck the Yankees.
Giants just gave up a 4 game sweep to the Cubbies but they're still only 2.5 back of those Dodgers.

I believe that the Jays have not lost one game with Tulo in the lineup.

Correct. They 11-1 since the trade, and he didn't play in the game they lost.

I think he's the best player in the game when he's healthy. Trout is great but he's not a gold glove shortstop. That matters to me.

ah jea, and that is one of very few reasons I still pay attention to Mariners on a daily basis.
Second Japanese born player in MLB history to throw no hitter. 5th Mariners no hitter in history (Randy Johnson, Bosio, Felix, 6 different pitchers in one game and now Iwakuma)

I was tryin to be big on BlueJays from the get go (mainly cause Mariners do a fair amount of trades with them). They are killin it right now, pretty cool. Hope they stomp Yankees and Orioles(same div i belive)dicks into the ground.

Sounds like there's a strong possibility of Utley ending up in SF (Joe Panik has been out with lower back inflammation).

I hated watching baseball for the longest time.. Then I went with a buddy to the Twins@Jays game, the first one Price pitched for. Fuck was it awesome. The lines wrapped around the building and some on to the next block. First time selling out since '93 after the world series wins.
Ate some edibles before, tripped out a little bit, drank some beers. The crowd is so fun. I loved chirping Rosaro and Hicks, I was sitting just left of center field. Everybody loves Price. There was a group of drunk dudes that kept starting a "Twwiiiiiinnnssss... YOU SUCK!" thing and I just thought it was the funniest thing. It sounded like a lot of the crowd was doing it after a while. It's lame but the wave went around every level of the stadium like 6 times at one point, everyone was so pumped. I could hear the roar of the crowd follow the wave around. I had two people try and buy my Russel Martin bobblehead and another try to steal it. I even liked the cheesy stereotypical organ music. A ton of fun.
But yeah I've been following this shit like mad since. They keep selling out and winning. Hoping to go to another game yet. I'll be glad to come back to this thread when they win the series to see lots of delicious tears.

Bumgarner with a complete game shut-out, 14 strikeouts, a home run & an RBI double. Tell me, does it get any better than that?

Just to add to the craziness, yesterday the Giants honored HOF pitcher Juan Marichal. They had a little pre-game ceremony for him and also had him in the booth talking for a couple innings. Well, what's crazy about this is when Bumgarner completed his feat he became only the 2nd SF pitcher ever to throw a shut-out, strike out at least 10 batters and hit a homerun in the same game. Who was the first to do it, you ask? Well, of course it was none other than Juan Marichal.

Was it Johnny Roseboro's head he hit over the wall?

I think he was trying to beat his head into the batters box (twice). The penalties from the league were relatively minor back then.
20 years later they were friends and Roseboro persuaded the HOF voters to vote Marichal in after they passed him over a couple times because of the incident.
Probably no one else knows what we're talking about.
