And schlong, yeah when they put Lester in & two scored on a wild pitch, I couldn't believe it. They shouldn't have put him then. Everything was going fine. I honestly thought that move was gonna cost them the series.

Joe made a series of mistakes, most of which involved the bullpen/pitching.
Bringing Chapman in game 6 with a 4/5 run lead after he had pitched his longest outing ever the previous game, thereby likely leaving him gassed for game 7. If you can't trust your bullpen to get 6 outs without giving up 4 runs, that's not good. And bringing Lester... He's never done that before (Lester), just let your bullpen, who are used to coming in midgame, pitch that.
Man.. Had the Cubs lost game 7 people would be crucifying Madden... Luckily that's not the case but still. It's still being talked about on the Chicago AM station (670,the official Cubs station) I listen to while driving.

People will bitch about anything these days. I've heard people talking shit about Bruce Bochy for months now, saying his days are done and the Giants should part ways. I tell them they're fucked in the head and they should be worshiping the ground he walks on.
The haters will always be the loudest, but they are usually the minority. I think Kaepernicks jersey sales at the beginning of the year are a good example of that.

Seems to be the case in all sports now:
If you're a major market team, or just a team that has a winning tradition, you need to be a consistently championship winning coach or youre gone after 2 or 3 seasons.

The White Sox finally made the move and traded Chris Sale to Boston. The Red Sox now have the top 3 starters in the AL or maybe either league. The Red Sox are playing to win this year. The White Sox got a shit load in return, 3 of the top 10 prospects, dumped 32 million in salary, got a couple more players. But you never know about trading an every year all-star starter for potential. They also want to trade most of their other best players. Why not? They're not good now. They are setting themselves up to be great in 3-5 years.

So the Giants are dropping $62 million (4 years) on Mark Melancon. I know the guy is good but I haven't watched him play much. What do you guys think? Is he worth it?
Lack of a closer was pretty much what ended the season for the Giants so we all knew something like this was coming.

Chapman is back in NY as most figured.
He was a good rental and Joe used him quite a bit (too much, imo)

I saw somewhere where the MLB union are trying to get rid of the old intentional walk where 4 balls are thrown to improve the pace of game. Instead, according to the article I read a signal will be given from the dugout. Not really sure how I feel about this. I mean I don't think it will speed up the game THAT MUCH

Stupid idea. I have seen wild pitches during intentional walks that scored runs, I've also seen people hit the ball. Why should we assume that this won't happen every time?
I still don't get all the fuss about speeding up MLB games. The NFL is much slower and harder to watch.

Fuck yeah, it's dumb as hell.. Throw the damn ball.
I still remember Will Clark slapping a single off a careless intentional walk ball.

Also, a lot of time the intentional walk takes the pitcher out of his rhythm. That can greatly impact the outcome of the game.

Anything can happen. Given, it rarely does, but a passed ball is definitely possible on an IBB. Runner on second, now on third, etc.
All to save 1 minute... And how many IBB are there on average per game? .5? .75? 1? Woo! That'll shave that 179 minute game down to 178.

It's a dumb rule change. When an intentional walk was screwed up it was great comedy/drama. The right way to deal with games being too long was to just follow the existing rules and make pitchers and batters get a pitch in within 20 or 30 seconds or whatever the rule is.

With their current way of thinking I'm surprised they're not just making them touch 1st on a home run ball and not jog the bases.
That'd save way more time than the intentional walk rule.
(I'd be against that, too, FYI)

Glad to hear they put a 2 minute limit on reviews, that's the kind of shit that needs to be done as far as speeding up the game goes.
Mad Bum just became the first pitcher in MLB history to hit 2 home runs in a game, and he might get another at bat.
