Hello again!
Does anyone remember this micro grow popcorn-vermiculite-cake?

It seemed to be spent so I pasteurized ~1,5 dl of coconut coir, made a mini mono and spawned this cake into it. Now it has tens of hyphal knots and about dozen of pins. Not bad for a spent 10 ml popcorn cake. No need to mention. This is a little bit too wet now, I'll have to fan moar.

Gotta love these novelty grows!
And btw. I sent a print to a fellow finnish shroomhead who has better growing conditions atm. He has isolated few good looking strains on agar and is planning to inoculate some whole brown rice grain cakes with wedges.

The pins above are third flush, culture #3 and produced the darkest, largest rust prints yet. I'll give them away in the marketplace soon. Those same blocks are putting off a 4th flush in my compost bucket right now.
That big fruit is a first flush off of a culture #3 monotub. That tub only gave one flush, but it was 23 days of constant mushrooms before it stopped. Not a single spore print off of that one.

I've got mine on agar, too. I'm just being impatient about it. Probably. I want to see mycelium, dammit! NOW.

Excellent update! That's kind of funny how you described the flush because that's pretty much how it's like when finding them out in the wild. From July-August it's like a solid region pump of a flush where they just go hard and don't stop! After that though they vanish pretty quickly.
Funny also the sterility is still present. As I think clay pointed out I suppose having a strain that doesn't sporulate all over your tub/sub can be considered a pro in regards of clean up .

Having tried his sterile culture, I can contest to the ease of clean up. And its a fast colonizer too.

Well I put a couple wedges to grain the other day and they are starting to take off. Trying to decide if I want to just spawn the master to a tray for some quick clones or should I G2G and go for some tubs.

I'd be patient and do ya a tub PW. It'll give ya a larger selection of specimens to choose to clone from.

Yeah your probably right. In that case I will probably do 8 receiving quarts and spawn those to 4 mini monos. Should see some nice diversity from that.

Awesome post, I spent a couple of hours soaking all the info in. Pretty cool that the wild cap was collected literally 20 minutes away from me.
