I'm going to guess genetics. The sub was at field capacity and I dunked the grains. So it was definitely hydrated. I'm going to inoculate some more grain and see if it happens again.
Are you getting any nice rhizomorphs PS? I'm excited to see your results.

I'm seeing some sectoring at first glance, or at least seeing some more rhyzomorphic adaptations to the agar. A few more days and I can do grain jars from it I hope.

Well I just harvested. These were so small, but i filled 5 trays of my dehydrator. Filled them to absolute capacity. I just wanted to share with everybody.

Whoa they look great! I wonder if they just typically are a smaller strain...? Are you gonna make some prints or LCs from these?

They are supposed to be the same wild strain as mine, and I'm working from a spore print the size of Manhattan Island. So no they're not expected to be small. It's weird.

The second flush is pretty comparable to the first. They're all small just like the first flush. Dry weight was almost exactly 2 oz. I have not sampled these myself, but one of my friends did and he said they ripped his face and world in two. Here's some fap material from the second flush for all you fine folks.

Blackdove said he would find these little fruits in the field. He call them "poppers" I'm guessing I have those popper genetics going on here.
How's your myc coming along there PS?

Several plates ready for grain and/or further isolation. Will post pics when I do that - it looks great, though.
Maybe I'll get lucky and have the large fruits?
