FOR THE FULL PURPLE MYSTIC STORY JUST GO HERE (thanks BlackDove ):
History of the Purple Mystic: A Working Historical Thread of the PM
FOR THE ORIGINAL THREAD JUST KEEP READING:
Hi y'all,
Got this immense wild print from Blackd0ve420 a while back and have had some success isolating clean myc from it. In the meantime he tells me they've got jars nearing fruitage and it went cleanly, so whoohoo!
What do ya think - I've not seen much myc from wild cubes yet and this looks healthy but on the wispy side. Will be working harder on the print based on results so far...
Oh yeah, I'm going to take some segments from it for an array of plates, the usual selection criteria (whatever looks best).
PS
edit 2017 to put the right title on the thread

i dont use agar, so have no experience, but so far it looks good.
I could be wrong but the myc may be down to it being a wild mushroom.

Yeah, that's why I'm asking. I've cultivated wild Ps. cyanescens but never successfully cubes.
Thanks for the inputs.

I'm guessing you're talking about the purple mystic? He sent me a print of that as well. I have a PM monotub colonizing right now.
I had these two plates from it that looked pretty nice. I did more transfers, but don't have pics of those.
Did you get any contams on the plate at first? Black dove said he had tons, but I didn't have any. I'm glad to see someone else is working on this as well!

Yeah, although it didn't have any name just the prints from wild cubes that develop purple caps. Which if not spore load has got to be cool, and I've several people mention this trait from FL so far.
What I want is what the upper half of your first pic shows - what I have is the lower half.
Waiting to see what your mono does.
Oh, I did get lots of interesting contams, and only one of my first transfers made it out alive. But I didn't do that many plates at first, maybe five... It may have to do with how large a sample you take off the print for streaking, I pulled off quite a lot as I didn't know how viable it was gonna be.

Mine had a PM on it and he said he calls em "purple mystic" Most likely the same kinda print I'm guessing. I didn't hear anything about the purple caps though.
I was pretty excited to see those nice sectors pop out of there!
I think I I made two plates at first. I was pretty surprised to not see any contams at all. I was expecting something.
I'm excited about the mono as well. I spawned on Monday and its about 65-70% colonized now. I'll definitely put some pics up of that.
Good luck to you! I hope all goes well.

All I know is that if someone gets some purple capped cubes, I'd love to trade and check out those spores under a scope!!

Hmm, could be a gotcha. I've had flushes like that, though - massive pinset and small fruits. Hydration? Could of course be the untried genetics. My myc is looking good so I'll have something to add to the convo soon enough.
