Legalization of Cannabis in Canada

Justin Trudeau, son of former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau (imo the best we ever had) is running for the leadership of the Liberal party of Canada, and its pretty well known that he's almost guaranteed to win that spot. If and when he does become the Liberal leader, he says that if he wins the next election (which will be in 2015 if the current government does not call an early election) he will not only decriminalize, but full out legalize the recreational use of cannabis.
To Americans who don't know, Liberals are our Democrats, and Conservatives are our Republicans. Right now, the Conservatives are in charge, and it's driving the entire nation insane. Our left vote has been split for a while between the Liberals and the NDP (another less popular left wing party), and the Conservatives have been winning as a result of this. However, the NDP's leader recently died, so, nobody gives a fuck about them anymore.
Its happening just the way I predicted it would. First, a handful of U.S. states legalize it. Then, Canada as a whole. And then, the rest of the states will rapidly legalize it except a few states. In a couple hundred years we might have rational drug policy as a whole....maybe.
Trudeau didn't state what sort of regulations he's going to set up, just said he's going to legalize it for recreational use.

I've listened to Trudeau talk before and im going to be even more disappointed if the liberals elect him to lead their party.
he is not qualified for the job.

His main rival stepped down to support him, its almost guaranteed he's gonna be the liberal leader, he's gonna be put in in less than two weeks. I think he's qualified. He's vague at times, granted, but the closer he gets to power, the more clear he's getting. Before he was saying he was only in favour of decriminalization, now that he's about to become liberal leader, he's saying he's in favour of legalization. I believe as he goes farther he'll assert himself more, I think he's just been trying to blend in with the old farts. When people go "too" liberal at the outset they usually get mocked and don't go far I find. I believe he has his views, and will act on them when he thinks it will make a difference.
Even if I'm wrong.....ANYTHING BUT STEPHEN FUCKING HARPER! That man is evil. I don't use that word lightly, he's FUCKED. I mean dude, un-protecting every river in Canada in an omnibus bill without informing anyone? I'd vote for a chimp at this point!

I disagree. I'd rather a good weak leader than a strong evil leader. Even if Justin proves himself to be incompetent (which I am not sure will happen), I don't really care, its better than a man who is actively sabotaging us.
