Read my fucking mind. This version gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. My first real experience getting into the Dead was when I first got into Acid, and I'd drop it in my room just to experience my (at the time) new found obsession with the Dead. Started with Anthem of The Sun and Europe 72. From that point on, I knew I was obsessed. It wasn't until I heard that opening track to Live/Dead while tripping that I felt I finally understood what they were about. The chemistry between these guys, especially on that particular date, it just is beyond anything I have ever heard.

I don't know if you own Dicks Picks 36. It's a 9/21/72 show from the Spectrum in Philly. It has a 37 minute Dark Star that I ocnsider one of my all time favorites. Around 26:00 in, it becomes nothing, and you wonder where it's going to go. Around 32:20 in, what begins to happen is beautiful, it all comes together.

That's a nice one...this Dark Star below gets DARK. I honestly wouldn't suggest this in a million years for somebody to trip to, but it's certainly psychedelic.
