#2
Natural Light:
Spore Print: White

Flash:
These were the ones you were interested in Toxicman, the pictures from yesterday did not do the colors justice. Very vibrant!
Spore print is white. They smell similar to psilocybe cubensis.
The gills are vein like.

#3

Some interesting puffballs, the holes in the top and the spiny stalk threw me off. Do the holes form with age?

#4

Spore Print: Cream

#5

These bruise medium brown.
Spore Print: White

#6

Spore Print: White

#7

Spore Print: Clear, is that possible?
#8

A baby muscaria.

#9

No print for this one. It was too decayed.

Happy Hunting

Just curious - are you hunting in a graveyard at night for atmosphere?

I'm sure you know that the first one is an Amanita. Of course, identification beyond that requires quite a bit of detail.

#2 is a Hygrophorus. Identification to species of those little bright colored guys requires knowing which parts are slimy or not (stem, cap) and what they taste like.

If you're in Colorado, Dr. Miller would be interested in seeing those puffballs if you could bring them to the Mushroom Fair this Sunday (shameless plug - see the thread in the Gathering Forum). Word I've gotten is that he's now researching puffballs and stinkhorns. The apical pore is typical of members of the genus Lycoperdon (and its close relatives), also indicated by the sterile base one each of them. Unfortunately, this is a difficult genus, and I can't help much beyond getting you to the genus.

#4 is an interesting mushroom. It could be any of several things. We really need to look at a spore print to start out with these.

#5 are some nice Amanitas. Do they bruise when cut in half?

#6 could be a Melanoleuca, Leucopaxillus, or even a Clitocybe. We would need to see a spore print and look at the spores under a microscope to figure out which for sure.

On #7 I'd want to start with a spore print before even starting to guess on genus. Definitely interesting.

You know what #8 is.

#9, of course, is another Amanita. On the second photo, the base of the stem looks like it's pretty reddish. Does this one bruise?

Happy mushrooming!

heheh.. Actually the microclimate was quite amazing. It had just rained and the forest was blanketed in fog. I love hunting when its so moist out.

That's too bad, man...  At least you tried.

Try after the next time it rains and I bet you will get lucky.  It has been kinda wet here the past few nights.
