Morels in Tennessee!
    #18072867 - 04/07/13 04:10 PM (11 years, 12 days ago)

I know morels have already been found in Putnam county and Anderson county, but my morels are finally up! They are a week and a day later than they were last year.  I just spent the weekend camping in the smokey mountains for a community ecology field trip and there were no morels in the mountains yet, lots of wildflowers but no morels, but as soon as I got home, I found these in my yard:
Morchella esculentoides

Then I found another mushroom frequently encountered by morel hunters:
Polyporus arcularius

Then, I may have found that same Psathyrella Bjjiggles found the other day, I'll try to look for that post and compare these, but this reminded me of it. I have several pictures of this one and I'm not finished uploading so I'll put them on MO:

Any more morel finds in TN please post!
 Thanks for looking!

Very nice. A camping trip sounds about right.
Great shots.

:super:

I sure hope you guys have more luck that I did in the smokies this past weekend, it actually should warm up alot in the next three weeks so as long as it rains I think it might be alright.  I was really really cold and uncomfortable, still snow on the ground in places, etc.
