Is this normal?
    #1806075 - 08/12/03 04:35 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

Hello, my friend is a FTG, and wants to know if one of his cakes is safe to birth. His mix is a brf/verm. Notice the green spots towards the lid of the jar, and of course the white splotch in the middle. Is this safe to birth with the other definite not contam cakes? This cake has the most growth on it...

Thanks guys

Those spots sure don't look green. It could just be seeds or whatever substrate use used as main inocullum being pushed to the side. I'd say no one is responding because that cake looks beutiful. The white is perfect and if you have a problem worring about the discoloration at the bottom cut it out and look for the salt and h2o2 teks for decontaimianation.

I can't see any contamination. It's not safe to mix healthy cakes with contaminated ones though.

Well, my foaf birthed the cake, and cut away some greenish looking mold from the bottom of the cake (top in the jar), he will have to keep an eye on it.

Sure he will.
Keep spraying that area with some h2o:h2o2 solution.

update:

Is this greenish discoloration normal? Or does this cake need major surgery and/or need to be tossed?

Toss the cake right away or else it will contaminate your whole growing area.
It will become a green mess in no time, i hope you don't have any good cakes in the same place.
