Is it possible to get leucistic mushrooms out of a strain that is not typically leucistic?

I got this PESA shroom that looks albino. Granted it has been in the patch outside (No more then a day)..I doubt sun bleaching would do something like that...either way I'm printing it and I was wondering what you guys thought? Leucistic? Sun bleached? None of the above?

The others are same strain/same patch..shown for comparison.

Any tricks to getting sporeprints out of them?

Yes they are about 2X more potent in my experience. But they take a lot longer to colonize and fruit.

As far as prints... I would just do some sterile swabs. Although with those you pretty much need agar. In that case, i'd just clone a non blobing fruit from the first flush and use that culture:thumbup:

Has anyone else had PE mutants on regular flushes? I just had the second within a month or two and wondering if they are that common and I could just clone my own later when I get my Agar tek down...? First one I had was a fat choad of a shroom, second one last night(shoulda taken a pic) was a perfectly formed baby about an inch tall, but the cap was just perfect PE resemblance. If it weren't so small and hearing about PE caps being sterile I woulda tried a print.

They are cubes from Brazil. They were quite popular a few years back. They can produce large fruits.

thank you for your imput! i figured that agar was my safest option..but i don't really have agar nor have i used it yet. i was just hoping for another way. also i was given a strain by a buddy no clue what it is....but every single cake produced quite a bit of albinos...ive used the strain befor and never got that...so i was pretty suprised it was really cool. it was just weird that not just one but every cake in that round produced a bunch of albinos!!!

I never use agar. Multispore is fun. Sometimes it surprises you.

Totally. This is how leucistic strains are found.

Were you able to get a clone on agar?

Until you look at the spores, there is no way of telling albinism or leucism.

You may have just discovered Albino Amazonian. Giggity Giggity

I have a few plates available..I'm not familiar with cloning from a regular mushroom...it's not completely dry is it still possible?

I believe so.

In a sab, rip the shroom open, and tease a tiny piece of flesh away, and put it on agar. You will want to make 4 or 5 if possible, for better odds.

Also keep your eye on your dishes for any contams, as cloning can often contaminate. If you notice any, just try to isolate away from it.

Sorry. Inner cap flesh. Just above where the stem joins the cap.

Go here:

www.mushroomvideos.com

and watch RR's mushroom cloning guide. Its a shortened version, but enough to give you the gist.

I'll look it over now. I did my attempt before I saw it. Thanks for the help though.

I made 3 plates. I broke the almost dried cap into thirds and picked at it with my exacto knife around the gill area (Tried to go for that spot you were talking about.
