it is now safe to turn off your computer (fixed by Seuss!)
    #1805422 - 08/12/03 02:09 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

i recently upgraded from W98 to XP, and am generally very happy with the switch.

one thing that does annoy a bit is shutting the computer down: W98 used to turn it off automatically, but XP requires me to get off my butt and go over to the plugs by the wall behind the cupboard, and flick the power off then back on.

Is there a shortcut, or a file i can install to bypass this?

sk  :shake:

thanks in advance - and shrooms to anyone who fixes my problem! :crazy2:

I've never seen that happen with XP. Is it a legit copy? If so e-mail the tech support if no-one here can help you.

thanks, man.

it's XP Professional, given me by the IT woman at work. Her copy is no doubt legit, and I could probably get the original.....

Good deal but I thought that was on by default?

It is by default on a new install... an upgrade is a different matter.

Your very welcome.
