Hi im wondering can I grow wood lovers in particular p. azurescens on soft woods such as pine. It is very hard for me to get anything else as this is the only commercially grown timber here. I don’t thing I can get anything else as even the sawdust for fish smoking in is imported I have found it it a fishing shop but its about $5 a lbs. my two other ways of getting it are heading off into a protected forest and chopping away. I won’t do this as it is unethical. Or a recycling centre and rent a shredder. There would be a lot of paint and chemical’s in it so I don’t think it is a good idea.
I don’t want to spend the time working with agar getting a clean culture only to find to find I cant in a few months time
I expect that I will have to process the pine sawdust somehow to remove at least some the sap with a solvent or acid/base any ideas on this without destroying the nutrients. Hope you can help thanks
If this needs to be in the basic forum please move.

Try a feed store or farm supply.

Check out the Craigslist free section. Even if all the commercial wood in your area is softwood, people still have hardwood trees in their yards, and when those come down they're often free to whoever's willing to haul away the wood.
