Long Term

I am amazed at how long my cakes have been fruiting. I still have 2 brf cakes of Ecuadors that have gone through 5 flushes and are still pinning. Do you think it has anything to do with the water I used? I asked an old wise man hippie about this, and he said it more than likly was the water I used that made them fruit so well and so long. The first flush had small fruits, but I dunked the cakes after that and they were frigin huge. But the water I used was natural spring water, as in I walked my ass a half hour into the woods to the spring and bottled it directly from the source myself. I used this water for the substrate and dunking, misting, and sprayed the cakes after dunking and rolling in vermicultie. By the way this was my first grow. I'm not exactly sure how much of a yeild I got total, but they made me a good bit of cash and lots of good trips both. I know this is a pointless post, but I just felt the need to brag a little, sorry...

I'm on my first grow of 2 BRF EQ cakes as well. If I get results like you have, I'll run naked to work next week!

Good job!

If it really turns out to be the water, I'll be very, very surprised. I think the reason for your success lies in the fact that you obviously found a way to:
a. provide the mycelium with a sh*tload of nutrients (so lots of BRF), and:
b. get the conditions just right for the mycelium to keep fruiting, so precisely right rH, temp and substrate moisture, and that over a long period of time.

So document exaclty what you did with those cakes, and do it again  !

Yeah. I would guess the water would help a little, but the nutrients from dea things in pond water versus the nutrients in BRF are minimal at best. I think optimally meeting all mushroom requirements is what did it for you. I have two jars of plantasia's that are on the first flush and going NUTS!d job =).
