That's a good lookin turtle you got there.

I haven't been out much, weather has been shitty and been busy with school/new job.  Weather looks like it will be taking a turn for the better and plan on buying my own kayak in the next week or two so hopefully will have some more time outside.

Nice shots as always Tmethyl. :congrats: The hawk looks like it might be a young female red-tailed hawk although I can't say it is 100% because I can't see it's tail clearly. Great close up on the tortoise too.

I was also going to say red tailed hawk, looks just like it if not.  But being from the midwest i wasn't sure if they were that far south.

Yeah red tails are the most common and widespread hawk of the genus Buteo in north amreica. Breeds from Alaska east to Nova Scotia and south. Winters mostly in the entire lower 48 of the U.S. Happens to be one of my favorite hawks too. It was the first hawk I learned to id when I was a kid, we had several pairs nesting around my grandparents property in West Virginia. Got my love of birds from my grandpa and granny.

Went for a nice 12 mile hike today.  This trail is like 5 minutes from where I live but I have always neglected it for some reason.  Ended up jogging over half of it to make it my workout for the day.

Almost stepped on this guy.

Another old house/structure that is now gone.

Rode my bike about 10 miles to that big waterfall I posted a picture of a couple weeks back (the one with the tire).  I go pro'd the whole trip, but it will take a day or two to conglomerate them and make a quick vid, so I will hopefully get that up here as well.  It will be your virtual hike with dodgem.

I also tried to check the depth of.  trial one was with a 15 foot stick/tree.  It's at least 8 feet deep, but I couldn't check any further out in front of where the water landed, so a bit inconclusive.  2nd test was to enter the water and swim down to check the depth personally.  I made it about chest deep, started hyperventilating and said fuck this ha.  I'll have to check again when the water warms up a bit.

Sweet video man! How far did you fall at the end of the video? Ha. Did you wear that gopro on your head for most of that? Also, what software do you edit with? I have a bunch of gopro footage that I need to put together.

It wasn't very far, a few feet maybe.  Landed on a nice layer of leaves luckily.  Ended up saying fuck that wall and walking away.  Then the fall on top of the waterfall... it was so damn slippery, hit water and like 6 inches later my whole bike slid out underneath me ha.

And all the way riding up to the water fall the gopro was on my handlebars.  After seeing the water fall it is all on my head/helmet.  I got adobe premiere 10 from a torrent, works well enough for me and still figuring out a bunch of features.  Need to find a good stabilizer for the shaky stuff.

I have made a couple other vids just for practice pretty much with the software.  Got a sweet sledding one from this winter ha.  I have thought about making a vid once a week of all the fun outdoor stuff I do within that week.  Just a few clips from each thing.  I just got a kayak yesterday too, hopefully gonna get her in the water tomorrow afternoon some time.

And thanks, glad you guys enjoyed it.

Yeah it looks like a yellow rat snake to me but I can't be 100% sure about that because I don't see its head. But it most likely is a yellow rat snake. Nice sighting.

And are all of those shrooms cubes? If so you're one lucky person. I wished I had them growing in my flower pots. Makes me jealous. :congrats:

/\ Wish I could see some snakes like you guys! I think that while I'm very cautious of them that they are fucking awesome. Sure I'll come across more than a few this summer while fishing. Then again those are usually copperheads lol.

Just a few pics from the hikes I've been on the last few weeks. Finally got two semi-nice days, actually felt like spring for a change... May go out for morels next week but it could have to wait another week due to the weather, not sure just yet.

Cool. I saw a small one like that one in the right corner eating a snake right on the trail the other day, it was pretty awesome.
