syringes in pressure cooker???
    #1803420 - 08/11/03 11:09 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Is this wrapped in aluminum foil and half and inch of water or do they need to be submerged? and should they be all taken apart of left whole?

I will just PC my syringes wrapped in foil on the tops of the jars I have PCing.

I clean them with bleach, rinse them well with distilled(tap will do, but I have a distiller to make my own distilled) and put them back together and capp off the needle with foil or the provided cap.

Don't submerge them, don't let them touch the bottom...

Water in your foil can allow contaminents into the "sterile" package, and too close to the bottom can melt some syringes.

you want to steam them not boil them in your PC so you just have enought water to last 20 mins while you PC it at 15psi set them on the rack that came with you PC you don't want the water to touch them at all

everything should have a near uniform temp in the pc after it reaches its peak pressure for awhile. if its on top of the jars in foil and dont melt your ahead of the game with contams in my opinion. there are autoclave bags available from tattoo suppliers that will turn color when sterility is achieved for needles, tubes, and what not. check it out if thats what floats your boat.

no I spray the water out.

I suck up hot water in each syringe and spray it out and I do this 3 time each before I PC them.

you get it?

then after pressure cooking do you repeat the sucking and expulging and keeping the hot water in the last time to await a viable print?

nope once they come out the PC they are good as new no need to do anything with them.If you are not going to use the right away I put them in a big new/clean zip lock back till they are ready for use.

I put them in the PC with the plugers all the way down I have the needle on the syringe with the cap over it too so sterilize the needles too.or you can use new needles if you want

I thought the whole point of the sucking and expulging was so the last time you sucked in you would have sterile water to mix in with spores for a spore syringe? Do you just sterilyze the needle and then suck sterile water from a bottle?
Thought maybe it would be a good idea to follow the pcing with sucking and expulging and then keep hot water in the final time, wait to cool and then use that syringe now full of sterile cool water?

me personally...

after viable syringe is spent, i remove plunger part of the syringe and wipe everything (even needle cap) down with alcohol to kill spores, good or bad. then suck up BOILING water and purge 3 or 4 times. 4th time keep the water IN the syringe. put in clean (not necessarily sterile, i reuse my baggies) ziplock baggie with cap over needle, rinse needle cap with H2O2. after it cools in the ziplock bag, put everything in your glovebox and scrape your spores into shotglass. purge 2 or 3cc into shotglass, suck water and spore suspension back up, cap it off and youre done!

Holy shit people; COMMON SENSE! we were all born with it where did it go?
maybe theres a tek out there to explain how to use it!
