the official Koods jinxed and ruined it for everyone thread

The myc is running along the surface, and looking fabulous! Supposed to be near 60° for the next five days with no sub freezing temps. My prediction: less than a week to go!

I live in southern west virginia and know several places i used to pick...so with the temps finally coming up, and some of the other indicators of the spring season, by way of certain wildflowers popping up, id say we are very close....good luck and happy hunting to all!!!

Man it seems I went to Virginia 1 week too early. I went earlier this week and they got around 5 inches of snow around Blacksburg on monday, wasted trip except for seeing my little sis. Her ex-boyfriend said I should come back down in a couple of weeks so that he could take me to places he's found ovoids in the past but by then I expect to be too busy morel hunting.

I'm in Western Pennsylvania.  I used to have 3 spots that would just FLOOOOOOOOOOD with ovoids.  Had the best summers of my life :awesomenod:  But now the 2 townships that they were in decided that the swingsets needed concrete underneath them.  The kids would be safer with a cement playground, then having us hoodlums running through the park every night in April to pick these beautiful things.

Well maryland was nice and warm and got a nice soak in my area, but didn't last long.  Now its going to get cold for the next 2 days before.  Is this cold shock a good thing?  Then again it might keep the ground wet longer too though.  It was real nice and foggy yesterday.  I cant wait for them to pop up.  What do you think koods?

The same thing happened to me a couple days ago, I found 3 cyans in the woods and a few oysters.

I found a few nonactives I took pics of but was having trouble uploading them I will perhaps post on another thread.  Whereabout are you finding cyans in the spring?

Near pine trees, they pop up all year round here as long as its cold and wet.
Give me the link of your findings, I wanna see

You probably didn't pick any Psilocybe cyanescens in March. If you picked any woodlover Psilocybes in Spring it was probably P. ovoideocystidiata, it is even more certain that this is the case for anyone on the East coast. Please post picks of your find. because if you did find any actives they are some of the first of the year.

Had to edit real quick, thought divy was from maryland for a sec.

what is OK? You mean you don't want post pics so we can confirm your finds?

I have placed spent bulk substrate outside and in the summer and if it rained or I watered semi-regularly I would have super chunky fruits pop up that were considerably different macroscopically than there indoor counterparts, though clearly the same. It is possible to grow P. cubensis in the PNW outdoors in the summer but you have to have a plastic tent-like structure to keep the moisture levels up, I bet you could even spawn the outdoor beds substrate with (nearly?) exhausted indoor spawn.

No. I think the cold just suspends any progress. Plus, they put up red flag warnings, which means the air is extremely dry, and that is the worst possible situation.
