Pan Sub Experiment (Pics...)
    #1802596 - 08/11/03 06:53 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

Hi All,

I know this borders on Cultivation but I feel it is better off in the Hunting forum. I live in North Carolina and have been on several hunting trips and only found one hunt to be even close to the Psilocybe Cubensis/Panaeolus Subbalteatus species. Here is what I thought was a Panaeolus Subbalteatus:

Unfortunately, I don't think it is Pan Sub after all, still not really sure what it is.

Anyway, I have decided to bring the environment to me instead of me to the environment. I went to a horse farm and asked to take some horse dung from their stables for "tomato experiments". I broght back some horse dung mixed with shavings and put under my deck. I have not introduced any spores/mycelia to this experiement. Here are the pics of the beginnings of the substrate:

If you have any recomendations or comments as far as what should be added to the experimental subrate please let me know. Thanks to all the guys that deal with nobies like me!

I will update as the days/weeks progress, hopefully I will end up with Pan Subs in the end.

Muecci

Hello Muecci and welcome to the hunting forum.

The mushrooms in your first photo are Psilocybe coprophila. It is an extremely common but non-active coprophilous (dung inhabiting) Shroom, containing no psychoactive compounds.

You have another option having safe access to be around horse stables...and the process goes like this: You slice some apples in two and then spore print Cubensis mushrooms onto the surface of the sliced apples, and then feed the horses these spored apples every so often. I bet that if you did this every so often that after a year or so you could just possibly have some Cubensis on your hands.

Keep shroomin,
