5 blocks for £12.99 and free delivery, I thought that was a good deal. Works if u have the space to keep 5 bricks lying around.
For an extra £3.15 you can get 10 blocks of that stuff: http://www.amazon.co.uk/650g-Coconut-Coir-Pack-Seedlings/dp/B0033R585O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1364234335&sr=8-3
Also this could be promising, lots of it for a good price, just wonder what the other additives are and whether they would be beneficial or not: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gardman-Peat-Free-Compost-60ltr/dp/B004QLPZ6S/ref=pd_sim_sbs_lp_3
Might be worth a little extra research, I may email the company and see what else is mixed into it. The blocks say they make around 9ltr. per block, so 60ltr for £7.35 delivered is a good dealio..

Do people ever just stick to cakes? I mean in order to progress the hobby I will try bulk stuff, but I kinda like the practicality of the cakes. Bulk seems more trouble.

its not really more trouble its actually very easy, relaly no harder than doing cakes, its an extra few steps, but the return is worth it.
but theres nothing wrong with ust doing cakes if you got it down and get great results.
I was getting great results, even using odd fruiting methods, but i guess i got board and starting using hpoo (as i was collecting it for free).
doing cakes is easy. bulk is easy too. I was using bulk but in a scaled down way, so mini bulk if theres such a thing. the 2 cakes spanwed to hpoo produced 162g on the first flush. (1 cake produces 50g on first flush) and on second flush gave me around 130g. i dont bother for 3rd flushes, the dimished return on the 3rd never made it worth it for me.
The return may seem a slight improvement, but thats on a small scale and it can depend on ginetics, but on larger scale grows, you can expand your mycelium much further from what you started with.
but anyway, its a different way of growing and if you can grow cakes, theres no reason you cant do bulk.
you can even use cakes as spawn. which is what i did. instead of grain.
plus i like monotubs better than shotgun fruiting chambers. the only disadvantage is if something fucks up you loose a whole tub instead of some cakes or just 1 cake. but thats also the advantage of mini monos, is you can spread it over multiple tubs.
but then again, once you know what your doing, you shouldnt really loose any tubs, weather its small or large. with good techniqueis your contam rate should be 1%

Yeah I might try at least a couple of bulk grows, just to spice things up haha. First things first I just have to fruit these babies. Things are going well with my first cakes ATM but I don't want to jinx it. Fingers crossed. It's a good thing patience is one of my virtues. Today marks three weeks exactly since inoculation, one in consolidation and another 14 nearly there.

I know you can get them here, it's just that when I lived in the US you couldn't really find anything plastic that wasn't Rubbermaid, and that stuff is built to last, you can literally run a car over it and have it pop right back into shape.

if you want a load of cow manure http://www.compostman.co.uk/really-rotten-manure/p3 depending on where you are in the UK, depend on how much it costs, which is why you have to put in your post code. Really good for gardening plots as well.
As for BRF Cakes I like to crumble them up and case them with only vermiculite.
If anyone finds any filter disks apart from MRCA let me know please

I was thinking this the other day, would lab filtration discs work?
http://bit.ly/13ueQU7
Like those? They are cheap too, but not sure if they would be effective? It makes sense to me that they would be alright. Alas I am not at that stage where I need them, but I had considered them for future. They are really quite hardy even when wet, I used to use them back in uni and even when wet they were a bitch to rip. not that they would get wet anyway. Of course you would have to go for the premium grade one though which is still cheap.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!! Just got my parcel from MRCA. Very discreet. No problems getting it delivered to the UK. AWESOME service!!!!! AND a free syringe of Australia strain. So basically I got 6 syringes for £40 including delivery from Europe. Well impressed! One tip I'll give to any of those ordering from them who live in the uk. If u pay by card and it says ERROR PAYMENT NOT MADE or something like that, after u try paying. Check ur card account to see if the money has gone through. I tried so many times with so many cards and they all went through even though the checkout was telling me there was an error. I just contacted them through email and explained and they were awesome about it, cancelled all payments but one. So I got my order just now. CAN'T FRIGGIN WAIT TO STUDY THESE!!! Some awesome spore clumps in these babies just dying to be studied! Aaaaaaaaargh! SO EXCITED!!!!

Maybe it's for ladies only no I think it's cos they messed up my payment a few times and I had to contact them a couple of times. My free one was AUSTRALIA strain. Can't really find much on that particular strain.

Base, mate, kudos on the new thread! Still can't get over your post count fella, I still think of you as some green kid all fresh and new and full of excitement of these little new beauties...
Really sorry to hear about your country of residence woes a few pages back (yeah, I trawled the whole thing!) Hope things are more settled with you now chief, that's a bum deal. My country's too shittily stoicly uptight to be kicking anyone out.! You back in town these days..? Dude, I never even knew you were a Yank!
To ressurect some ancient points:

Heya ego, how's tricks fella? I've definitely dropped off the radar of late-have moved house, gotten engaged, turned 30 and a myriad of other stuff..plus I finally packed in my shitty part time evening job in a bookies on the arse-end estate of my city. Crap job (I got robbed once!), but it afforded me hours of sitting endless on beloved Shroomery...miss those times, and the site. Good to see all you guys going strong though.

I'm in Cornwall, bout as far west as you can get.. Met some local hunters recently, gonna show me some local Lib fields when the weather turns.
yeah not that far out Egodeathflux, I'm over Somerset way mate. nice one on the lib beauties there. they've always been my favourites by far, they're beautiful! had a search around here the past couple of years but no joy, so I'm gonna have to head out Wales way, that's where the bad boys are. or maybe just wait for my cyanofriscosas
best of luck mate!

I'm north of the pair of ya, in the beautiful land of my fathers, home of the fields of libs. Have only been out once with a proper hippie-esque drug head I used to work with. Good guy. Wouldn't know where to find 'em now for looking, but the memory of finding a grove full of the little fuckers and loading a builder's bucket full of 'em is a fond one.
Anyways, just checked the site on a whim, saw this beauty of a thread Page 1 and just had to sign in.
I'm Ego Questio, and I endorse this thread.

Base, man, gonna you some code now.
