This is what I have going on right now and will continue to upload one question I have is how essential is the 12/12 lighting cycle and how would I go about changing my lighting schedule which is currently from 1am-1pm to 5-am-5pm with the least damage to their performance

i wouldnt worry about changing the light cycle time throughout the day as long as you change it and keep it constant.
you cant fan the tub without taking the lid off. so take off the lid and fan it off, use the lid if it isnt covered in condensation.

Some things I would like to add/note.
1.I have let my jars colonize under my bed on floor but in a large plastic tote but with holes in it as it is goin to be used for sgfc and have not have a single problem with slow myc colonization or contaminants... Knock on wood.
2.Since my temps in sgfc were climbing to high for my liking 85-86 only during peak heat of the day I am freezing a couple pop cans full of water and putting in sgfc with fan blowing opposite way to keep the temperature around a steady 75-80 range
3. As of now I am misting around 3 times a day and am fanning 5-6 times on a kind of loose schedule
As of right now my 8 jars in sgfc have showed no signs of pin growth as is expected at this point I will update my log at the first signs of growth thanks for all your help guys! I am becoming increasingly appreciative of the community that I recognize has formed around this great hobby I have just started and it makes it so much more fun and easy thanks again Shout to RR: if it wasn't for you I would have never took the plunge to get into this shit happy I did

4/2/13 Tons of huge pins growing on 4 of 8 cakes will upload pictures later tonight but have run into a problem because in the beggining i dont believe i added enough perlite only about 2 1/2 inches humidity has been good until this point but is starting to go down and am wondering if wetting the perlite very good a few times with mister and letting water run through the wholes in bottom will suffice in keeping it wet until the 2nd flush when i can add more perlite and rehydrate it

This is my first monotub which is wrapped in garbage bag and holes are covered with tape

And I am in the middle of spawning to bulk Coir/Verm/Gypsum without the coffee grounds this time on my second monotub waiting for bulk substrate to cool down in 5 gallon bucket as we speak
Thx guys any advice/tips/feedback would be much appreciated

take the tub outta that bag... you're golden with just the tape. Light is good for all stages of myc growth
Your cakes look great!!! well done!

Thanks so much Slaphappy, took the bag off the monotub so it can get some ambient light I can also now look at progress its been 2 days and can already see a little mycelium popping through top layer
I am making my second monotub right now and have question and need quick awnser if your still on could you help me heres link to thread I put it in http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/18052880
This is the steps I took in order to make my second monotub
first cut holes and put in lining while my bulk substrate cooled down after pasteurizing

Next added my first layer of bulk substrate

Next step I crushed up my spawn with my hands and added mixed evenly

Next step was to add the last of my bulk covering up all spawn

Last thing I did was tape up my tub and put away

no prob!
I answered your other post... It's a tougher one, but over all, i'd say don't use those for bulk spawn if they're PF cakes and have bacterial issues like that... But keep waiting for replies, i'm sure you can get some further advice on that

Wow woke up this morning and my baby's are starting to get huge Most of them are about 1 1/2 inchs long now and growing fast
Wondering guys should I be giving them more water now because it looks like they are drying up faster noticed a spot of bruising on one of the cakes possibly from dehydration???
I have started watering 4 times a day instead of 2-3 because it seems like they are going through more water and are getting so big the cakes are looking dry a lot quicker is this something that happens or could it me my imagination thx guys
Update: wow they are going through more and more water may even start watering everytime I fan I know I read somewhere that mushroom size grows in relation to a moist substrate so keeping it moist should increase my yield correct?? I don't want to cause a early veil break but pretty sure I am correct in my technique if it looks dry spray it right?
Pics

New update 4/5/13 guys what can I do to increase yield now that some are becoming mature

Aww mutant
