What came out of a Panama casing!.... Very interesting!.....

I was leaving for holiday 2 weeks ago.... I had a Panama casing which stalled after it's 2nd flush.... Before i leave, i crumbled the casing in small peaces, cased with a poo+straw+verm. nutrient layer. And placed it into my incubator. That's what i do most of the time.... But this time things went different!....... When i checked my casing, it was fully colonized and contaminated with green mold!.... Nothing unespected!..... When i saw it's contaminated, i left it over the table in the room i work in...... And check what i saw tonight!!!!!!!!!! I'll post more pics since they survive!............. There were shrooms on it... And almost %50 of the casing was contaminated!..... Check this pins; And here are two close up looks ; They look like; http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Coprinus_calyptratus.html or http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Coprinus_lagopus.html !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????????????? I didn't know which forum to post..... So i put links to some other Forums..... Didn't mean to break any rules... What's goin' on here? What are these stuff! It was the standart Panama mycellium..... I've grown many times from the same spore and consumed.... I swear that was Panama!..... I'll take a print if caps open a little bit more. But what i am confused mainly is that, they're obviously not Cubensis..... HOW THE FUCK?????

those are some weird lookin mushies. it seems that some spores of some different mushroom invaded and fruited. it owuld be interesting to see if those( non psychoactive shrooms i assume) took up any of the psilocibn from the origonal mycelia. either way i wouldnt eat em, however you could make an outdoor bed out of the thing jsut to see what happens. peace and you rock

They were said to be Coprinus Lagopus @ hunting forum.... GumbyDude mentioned that it should be because of unhealthy pasteurization...... That sounds logical....
When i first saw them, they were all covered with white feathers... I felt like they could move any second.... They were just like animals.....

Dude, you've got me. Those aren't cubies, though. Almost look like Conocybe, sp. They have some similarity to pans (not much but I haven't grown them) you've used those syringes before?
If the aren't pans they're a contaminant, but they don't look like Coprinus to me.

inky stinky ? Coprinus spp . These are evidence of free ammonia in the compost. Ammonia seems to be a nitrogen source. Their delicate gray caps autodigest quickly. Inky caps are indicators of nitrogen oversupplementation or a poorly managed Phase II compost. If there is too much residual ammonia, Phase II thermophilic microflora may be unable to convert all the ammonia into microbial protein. In addition, areas in the compost that did not remain within the range of 115 to 135 F from 72 to 96 hours after pasteurization may contain residual ammonia. This fungus is strongly cellulolytic.

Noone composted anything. I agree, though -- prolly C. lagopus or Conocybe spp. I had to look this up. -- Micro

well, if you look at the pics, it's pretty obvious what they are . most common lbm in this neck of the woods . there is a way to tell for sure though, Coprinus spp. will turn to black slime in a matter of hours . hence the name, inky caps .

Yeah, I had to look it up, but now I think you're right. I edited my last post. Not an lbm, though. -- Micro

in the wild they range in color, gray to brown or black , but also not active, not eatable, and not worth picking. i think they fit into the lbm catagory .

I used the casing and after its second flush, i crumbled and cased with a straw poo layer and incubated.... And i guess there was a pasteurisation problem of the second nutrient layer.... Maybe some spores survived the process..... That's what people said @ hunting & contamination forums..... Still sounds logical!....

Yeah, inkies are a common contam for commercial growers for the same reason. Incomplete past., or for composters, incomplete phase II.

definately Coprinus - its a common contaminate in poorly pasturised compost.
