Yeah, I get real excited too when I get to pot up some new specimens I receive. Wait, that is what you're talking about, right?

If you got those from the same seller on a popular auction site that did , then you will not be disappointed, especially if you pot them up at the same time

I have those same shelves in my old greenhouse and while the frames are sturdy, the actual wire mesh that lays across them is quite weak. You can see where ken even added a board underneath one of them and I did the same to help give the heavier pots some support. They work well but I wish they were a bit sturdier. As long as you don't put anything too heavy on them they'll hold up fine though.

I have seen trichos do this at windowsill to shady side of the cactus.. One indication is root bound or minor root rot so cactus grow these roots.
From my garden few trichos pup roots out from the side of cactus, I found they suffer rotting root. After repot and better soil I have not seen trichos pup roots out like that.
However, I have understand this is very natural to trichos anyway.. Big columns for example grow and take support from wall can have these similar roots coming from the shady side of the cactus. Maybe this is cause in nature trichos fall down and start offshooting.
Actually many cactus species especially few echinopsis I have seen when they make new offshoots they have roots already coming from the base of offshoot.
Well, I have not seen now roots coming from cactus after I change then new pots and make sure there are no root bound of chance to plant generating minor root rot what doesn't kill the tircho but roots suffer and plant will heal from that on it's own.

That was from the back side, witch dont see much light, as you said!
I am not thinking to be a rot or root bound, because i plant them 2 months ago and they had small amount of roots. I water them 3-4 times till now and i have them in the same soil mix as my lophs.. So, if its a rot, i have to do some serious transplants the next year..

Tricho can suffer minor root rot without die for it. I think you have common thing happened that cactus has put out roots to shady what is very normal to tricho.
I have seen minor root rot what trichocereus heal it self easily just by holding water.. Major root rot are bad thing but very minor root rot, cactus can handle it as long as there is dry.
Like I said I had one point very bad soil "spot" where water stay long time and that area of roots rotted but it doesn't cause base rotting for cactus.. Long dry period will allow tricho to heal itself, they have immune system on it's own and minor rot don't kill always cactus, especially when cactus are long time without water.. Roots what have rot just die and cactus keeps on growing.
As you said root has come to shady side of cactus.. I suggest to turn it round time to time what also helps tricho to grow directly upwards if light comes from side of cactus, like windowsill.
Also one thing is about these roots above soil is very common with cactus, many species does this and even trichocereus outdoors growing for example near wall, it's normal roots appear to shady place of cactus and it doesn't always mean it's rotting or root bound.
You said the root bud has come to shady place so I don't think there is any root rot or so.. If tricho is in greenhouse where cactus doesn't have shady spot and this happens, it can indicate problems below soil..
I would not worry about that more further, it's just root bud above soil level.. I have theory why this occur cause trichos will eventually fall and start branching again so maybe they have in genetics to produce roots to place where is not bright light. Like in their own habit they sooner or later fall down and make roots to the shady side of cactus..
I have one cereus cactus species what doesn't keep erected anyway and it will grow always roots like that from the shady side of cactus. Cactus will branch and the branches will fall down and grow like ephiphylum plants does. Trichocereus have same feature of growing that they can fall as seedling when they are heavy enough, then starts to grow roots to soil form fallen log and new offshoots growing erected.. In habitat it's very common trichocereus doesn't stay erected and fall down and starts grow new columns from fallen log with roots.
Sooner or later some branch of trichocereus will going to fall down or broke off from mother cactus and maybe that's why trichos pup out roots very easy to shady places just to survive in nature cause of growth style is what it is in habitat, there are no humans for wild trichos to keep them erected or anything and some skinny neck cactus in habitat just fall down and later grows multiple columns and this way it has better support to grow big.
...that's just my theory why trichocereus (and few other species) pup roots to shady side of cactus cause they can assume they are near mountain wall where is soil or something where roots can go take a drink.. There is just many reasons why to produce these roots to shade cause cactus don't know the situation so good that it's growing at place like windowsill. It doesn't know what's in the shade side of plant and probably assume there is some vertical wall what can support it or something.. idk..

Just planted my first ground planted bridgesii today. I'm pretty excited for it. Not one of my bigger specimens, but it has a cool history. The plant the cutting was taken from is said to have been growing in a Southern California city for 200 years. I can't help but wonder how it got there. It's a 5 gallon plant, so pretty decent size already. Can't wait to see the growth now that it's in the ground.

Its been a tough few years for these kids a real sorry lot. I only was around to baby them in the spring and fall a couple weeks each. A lot sunburned, dehydrated, got frost damage, and died or were over crowded and stunted. Since the photo on repotting day they greened up a good amount. I forgot to take a picture of the one Juuls x pach that I put in larger pots. Shows what good root space can do for growth. All criss crossed Juuls, Bridgesii, SS02, SS03, and AZ Pachanoi. My labels all faded and broke apart before I could replace them unfortunately.
