I have lots of trichocereus cactus plants with red spines, they turn to grey-white when age but the spines are deep blue red coloration long time and some of them stay reddish-brown without turning white.
My south american san pedro plants has actually whitish small spines but there is at top red/honey coloration on them.
Red spined trichos are very nice, especially from the top of it.
For example:

But.. What the red spine coloration on the top or all around the trichocereus tell us?
bridgesii are still honey coloration, then it's these red ones and then it's very white spine forms. Ofc mostly all spines turns to white-grey when aging.. Active growth tip coloration are still very beautiful in some plants, for example I have not much plants what show honey coloration(bridgesii like) without no red spines at all.

Hey guys it's an honour to join this club!
Initially, I had only possessed some unrooted cuttings but over the weekend I managed to buy what I think to be T. Pachanoi. Here are some pics. Please let me know what you think.

Anyways, when I got home I transplanted them straight into the ground because they had been in their pots for over a year. I managed to tease some of the roots out so hopefully they will be able to spread out. Last night I got a bit anxious though... because I've planted them in "Bricky's Sand" which is simply a mixture of sand and clay. They still have some of the soil that I bought them with but they will be spreading into the Bricky's Sand.
I reasoned that if they needed more nutrients they would send roots out to hunt for it in the soil beneath the Bricky's sand. Not sure if this will happen though.... Cacti do seem to grow really well in the natural soil in my area. So, as long as these ones can send roots down another foot they should be in the natural soil. Do you think it's likely that they will send roots down that far?
I don't want to move the cacti unless its a matter of life and death because I planted them almost a week ago and figure that the roots may have started spreading out already. So I thought it would also be fine to apply liquid fertiliser to the Bricky's Sand for the time being. Would this be an adequate solution while the cacti grows roots into the natural soil?
Thanks guys.

I think they will be fine! Liquid fert for the first year and then you will observe if they need nutes. Beautiful specimens!

I was looking at the rocks in your cactus garden and I said, "that looks like Australia". Then I see you are in fact from Australia! You might even be from Western Australia judging by those rocks... am I right?
Really nice garden
