I agree with intelligentlife. It would be best to just cut it in half and let those pup. It's possible to root cuttings even if they're only an inch tall but it would be ideal to cut in half so you have two 6" sections and just take it from there once they root and grow.

Trichocereus santiaguensis monstrose

Posted these two in the other cacti thread but they belong here too, so why not?

So the winter season is neigh upon my area and so I'm gonna take all my friends inside and give them some tender love and care after this wild summer. Anyways, I'm not so much looking for fast growth but many cacti. Last winter I discovered the value of good genetics and I'd like to get as many mature Trich's as I can. Preferably without spending anymore money on cuttings. Time is not of the essence. So ya'll are sayin that it wouldn't be detrimental to cut 2-3 inch cuttings to then make them into bases. Also cause I've noticed how unstable a 6' cutting's pups can get.

Wanted to post pics, I transplanted some trichos to fine decoration pots.
Trichocereus Pachanoi (Two different strains in my "san pedro" cactus pot)

Trichocereus Peruvianus (Seed grown "peruvian torch" cactus pot)

Trichocereus Bridgesii (Seed grown, got these plants from fellow shroomery friend)

Winter is coming, I will dormant these and grow them at decoration pots.

Got a monstrose bridgesii cactus today!
These spines! When I pot the cactus, it was pain!
But the beauty of it..

This was very much worth of every euro I spent!
Also I got t. peruvianus and t. bridgesii seeds and sow them to soil!
I have now probably 3 different monstrose bridgesii plants cause this is not similar to another plants I have, or who knows... This cactus grows weird anyways but I have long joint with long spines, long joint with short spines and this new cute short joint TBM

These are my only Trichocereus plants that really are photogenic. I have others but they are uglier and cloned from the same stock. As far as I know they are T. pachanoi, started them from seed a number of years ago.

Beautiful red spines! Looks like they could have a little peruvianus in them.

Yeah they were supposed to be pachanoi seeds but they seem spinier than a lot of pachanoi I've seen in pictures.

What ever it is PSI it is a good looking plant I would even go as far as saying it is pretty. Junkheadrev I am a bit unsure about you Scop being a true Scop as it seems to have long spines.
Cheers Got

My pachanoi have exactly the same spines, though they are bluish.

I'm taking my time with these but they'll be chopped up and propagated at some point in the near future.
