@Griye- The Derk01 is all from the same cutting I bought a few years back. I just noticed how different they look after I brought them outside. There's a few clones I have that are shapeshifters SS02 and Julio in particular, but this year Derk01 takes the cake.
It happens fast, haha. I've bought/traded a few over the last few years, but taking cuttings and then not getting rid of them adds up quick. It's a lot of work moving a lot of cactus in and out, but totally worth it IMO. Especially when I take the time to actually brew/extract some.
The greenhouse I built was fairly cheap and easy. The plastic was the most expensive part. Definitely get real greenhouse plastic and not the cheaper big hardware store roll kind... you'll have to replace it every year and have plastic pieces all over your yard using the cheap stuff, it's not UV resistant.
Cactus that are dehydrated from indoor winter rest will sunburn a lot easier. I still get reminded of this most years, but thought I'd pass that on to other cold climate growers. Sunburn sucks and can lead to fungal issues later on.

And the seedlings I started a couple months ago.
I have a mescaline problem that has nothing to do with drug use.
Aint nothing wrong with that. Its medicine. Me myself have never been in the right setting for me to get where i need to be. So its why i grow and never consume. Only done it once and that was enough but as i said it was not the right setting

Neat, I got the tiniest piece of derk01 a year ago and it’s just starting to take off. I was told it’s a bridge but it doesn’t super traditionally bridgey, more like a bridgesiioid. I didn’t know that about the sun burning but it makes sense, a few of my plants got burnt this year as the sun gets more intense

I really need to get this guy i the ground. I love how the tips of olivia x scop are turning. Has so much cresting and monstrose growth, it makes for a beauty once bigger

Yesterday on the other side of the river and in many parts here we had torrential downpouur. We needed it so much. My exwifes house, where i keep the majority of my hobby, was so in need of rain it wasnt even funny. But it seems like it will be ok now.

So my first cactus, and Trichocereus was from a giveaway done in the Marketplace a few years back. I thought I'd share its journey.
From Spicey You began this hobby for me single handedly my dude. I think anyway who does a giveaway would feel most joyous to learn. Watching them grow has kept me happier legit lol.
This was when I first received it out of the box,
June, 8th 2022.

July, 14th 2022.

December, 4th 2022.

This guy went on through 2023 to grow quite lanky. I didn't do a dormancy first year. When I finally cut this second pup circled in red, it was about 12 inches and I tried to root it log style. It withered and died late 2023.
Everything went in to dormancy over 2023-24 winter. 3.5months with maybe 2 waterings in complete darkness. I had many other specimens at this point, seedlings I sowed, other cacti I bought. I'll post those at some point.
December, 10th 2022. First time I cut a cacti. I was nervous, but my Global Chef knife cut through it like butter.

This one in blue is the one on the ovenmitt.
-
I didn't take many pictures in 2023, A lesson in making this post I will remedy. At least every 3 months I'll take a set of photos of my collection. Perhaps I'll get a ruler.
-
April, 14th 2024.
Here he is after rooting in early-mid 2023 he grew a little over a foot, no fertilizer, but I started peeing on some of the Trichocereus including my first PC variety I got from the marketplace again a giveaway+shipping, and though the PC cacti pup'd, the Yowie didn't., ,, yett...
May, 18th 2024.

Here's healing for a little over a month.
Fresh cut at the top left arm is from my very recent, 2 weeks ago, first ever attempt at Grafting. And as you'd know it, I used my first PC as the stock. Its 3 arms allowed my to do 2 grafts and leave a 3rd natural PC arm to have 3 cacti varieties on 1, neat.
There's the tip grafted. There's a tiny hole under, but 85% or more of the surfaces have fused it looks.
The other graft, which went onto the main stock of the PC was an 'Angelo' Bridgesii I bought last year.
The first attempt at grafting the middle one failed, while the Yowie tip succeeded. I did both at the same time. The second attempt on the middle stock/Bridesii tip worked
And for the grand finally, just shy over 23months at its new home.

Three pups are coming out all at the top in the 6 o'clock; 8 o'clock; and 10 o'clock; positions. Very sturdy and well rooted now. I have started feeding my plants now and pH adjusting more. The growth after dormancy is insane, I'm very happy to have done it this early into the hobby.
