Wow that's a nice collection. The differences in phenotype of the derk01 is really interesting. Did the mother come from somewhere different from you? Sounds like you're running a 'common garden experiment' that's displaying some kind of phenotypic plasticity. If you're documenting everything with pictures from the mother and clones, to geographic locations and conditions you're really collecting some cool data that could be something

Beautiful collection. I need to get a few of mine to post. It is a small collection but it's how you use it.
I'm currently looking for more Echinopsis pachanoi, or PC graft stock. And I'm trying to figure out the best way to build a small greenhouse to over winter everything outside. It's a pain with the limited space 25% of the year dormancy

So I bought a Bolivian Torch a while back, and today I noticed that one of its ribs has begun to sink in at the top.
Is it just too dry? Hopefully not dying.. I might not have given it enough water lately considering the change in seasons.
Tips and tricks for a cactus rookie would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

A good soak works. How long have you had it? What type of soila and pot? Full sun partial shade? It looks good to me but if its just been planted its gonna be a while before you see any decent growth on it

Alright, sounds good - and thank you for your answer!
I've had it since early november. It had just gotten its roots when I bought it and I haven't repotted it yet. The soil is a mix of mostly sand and rocks.
It has been standing under a bad grow light in the window during the most of the time since I bought it. I live in Sweden and we have like 6 hours from sunrise to sunset during the winter. Not much daily sunlight from that low hanging sun!
I'm slowly letting it adjust to sunlight outdoors as our climate is getting better day by day.
I think the pot looks a bit small, should I repot it now or should I wait until next fall/winter?

Okay buddy. Sweden. I would lovw to just get up and go but thats another story for another day. Its gonna be sometime before it gets good/ seeing as how your grow season is minimal it will take a while to really fatten up. I dont know how the weather is over there.
But yeah. I would definitely up pot to something bigger. Is it rootbound? The root growing on the side is gnarly man. It has roots so it may be the small pot setting you back. Hope that helps

Just moved my very small collection outdoors for the season. Hoping the real sunlight makes them take off. Can't wait!

You're most welcome! We've got loads of great stuff for the lover of nature.
The days are longer and the sun is starting to burn quite well now. Shiny long days during the summer and everlasting darkness during the winter. I love 'em both, but all my green friends are of a different opinion. I've grafted a pair of small loph's on small trich's as well so I'm going to invest in a proper light for the next winter.
It is rootbound and I guess eager for some more space.
Thank you very much for your guidance. I appreciate it a lot. Going to repot it right now!
Cheers!

Got these two seedlings a few weeks ago and I'm eager to learn more about growing them:

Does anyone have a comprehensive write for noobs? These 4" terracotta pots seem to dry up quickly. I'm watering them weekly. Mix is 50/50 cactus soil and perlite.
Also, would love to add to my collection! And REALLY interested in trying them out as I never have!

Babies. Yeah buddy. Welcome to the tricho world
Seems like you are doing wverything right. Remember. Keep it simple. All else falls right into place.
Those pots are good. They dry out in good time. Just water when the soil is dry an inch or 2 down. Not very hard and cacti thrive on neglect. Hope this helps a little.

They're a little thin. Im assuming at some point they'll break at the thin spot as they grow. Then I'll decide what to harvest and what to root. Not the prettiest, but I sure like them.

They look good bro. Just a little etiolated. Im sure with a bit more sunny weather and they will fill out nicely. I would t worry too much about that choke point. They root and thin out at the top but then fatten up like ypurs.
The look great otherwise man. Happy growing

Thanks. I bought them with the intention to consume them somewhat regularly. I've got dried cactus but only took it once. I'm surprised how much I like growing them.
And the seedlings I started a couple months ago.
I have a mescaline problem that has nothing to do with drug use.
