Micro grafting question.
I planted a bunch of seeds takeaway style 8 days ago. My perske's are supposed to arrive tomorrow. So far no signs of germination on the seeds. Too early to say it won't work, but coming up with a backup plan in case they don't.
I've got a couple bridges that thinned out over the winter under led light. Any thoughts on harvesting the thin stuff before moving the plants outside for real light and micro grafting an areole from the cutting onto pereskiopses?

Hey everybody! Pretty new to San Pedro’s but here’s a few of my guys. I’m quickly falling in love with this hobby just like mycology! It’s a deep deep rabbit hole. Got a bunch of sharxx x Althea seeds going as well and some other sharxx and Althea crosses! I look forward to talking cacti with you all and learning all I can!

Griye said: I definitely see the Peruvian in there, they look great. What zone are you growing them in?
Thanks, zone 5a.
Not at all the zone I was expecting lol. Do you grow them under a light?
I start all cactus seeds under lights and keep them there for the first 4-6 months usually. After that, I try to get them as much sun as I can when it's warm enough to put them outside.

Well it is full sun. Also I only fertilize 2-3x a year since too much nitrogen would cause etiolation IME

Do you mean the windowsill is full sun? Is that your vid? If it is, nice. I guess it comes down to me being in NC and there just isnt enough sun? I don't really use any nitrogen on them, mostly just phosphate and kelp.

Yea my video... It gets 'full sun' until 1-2pm. Cactus is actually 'slow' considering this is a year but this is from seed

Nice, it must take a lot of effort to make a good timelapse. Are you really in zone 13? That might be the difference lol. I like where I'm at but everything I like trying to grow would do better farther south

Nice that has to be a beautiful place to live. Idk how developed it is but there still has to be more ecological diversity than where I'm at

Its a completely developed urban city pretty similar to any city in the US. My State's capital and one of the best urban planning in the country. Still a relatively small city but growing quickly which brings its own issues.
I like the climate here but summers have gotten much hotter within just the few years I've lived here but atleast the winters are nice and cold but mild. Pretty perfect climate for all plants similar to South Florida just not as constantly hot year round.
I hope to visit our states national park this year or next and maybe collect some cuttings or seeds of local plants.

So its like texas haha. Texas is no florida. I had my dragonfruit plants completely decimated this past winter. And so ive started over with them. All tricho tips got burned and kept on going. Im also zone 10a. And still, i dont think i could live anywhere else

The pic with only the one pup is the one from 2023. The other pup was from 2022 but started out etiolated since it pupped in my apartment before I could get it to a friend's house, they're basically the same size now.

That would be rad, would love to trade some local nc plants for some local curitiba plants if you ever get down to it
