Often questions like this are better relegated to and answered by the realm of efforts as opposed to the realm of online advice.
Though it is unusual for cacti to need support with some exceptions like when they are newly potted up or transplanted or being transported in some way. I've been growing cacti for some time now, over two decades and I have almost never used or needed any type of structural support while they grow.
Do you need to support it with a bamboo pole?
I suppose if you have animals that could bump it or high winds or something then it might be needed or could be useful but this seems like a strange question to me. Like asking if a man who isn't missing a leg needs a prosthetic leg.

Grafts involve callus tissue layers, they do not create vascular unions as thought previously.
The two cut surfaces reinitiate callus tissue, which if in contact with one another then become as a single organism, but the early notions of graft union being akin to a lining up of tissues is not correct. There was a paper about this awhile ago but I forget the title and author.
However, lining up the tissues results in far better graft unions and higher rates of success. Part of this is ensuring that there is enough contact that the surfaces do not dry out or warp, which can push the graft off and ruin the effort.
A great explanation, but not one you would expect. For sure the expectation of inner material to grow and fuse together would be the norm. Essentially all growth and energy are transferred only through the outer layer, if so that's quite astounding.

Within the first day or two after grafting at the graft junction:
(1) adhesion of scion and stock; cell wall materials including pectins are secreted (2) a necrotic layer of dead cells forms (3) cell divisions initiate in the cambium, endodermis, cortex, and cells surrounding the phloem and xylem in both scion and stock; callus begins to form (4) a very slow increase in breaking weight strength occurs (the amount of weight required to break apart the graft)
Several days to a week after grafting:
(5) the necrotic layer begins to fragment (6) callus makes contact between scion and stock (7) a common cell wall forms between the scion and stock from newly deposited cell wall material including pectins (8) the common cell wall thins and plasmodesmata form across it between scion and stock (9) a substantial (typically linear) increase in breaking weight strength occurs
A week or more after grafting:
(10) the callus continues to proliferate and differentiates to cambium; later, xylem and phloem elements differentiate (11) cells surrounding the cut also differentiate to vascular tissue (12) vascular connections are re‐established (13) the necrotic layer is no longer visible (14) the breaking weight strength levels off to provide strength at the graft junction similar to ungrafted material
At first the two surfaces die and callus and then have to differentiate again before the two parts become like a single plant. My explanation previously was overly simplistic and not specific enough. Vascular fusion can occur again after callus tissue formation, fusion and tissue differentiation.

Here is a group shot of the most recent batch of seedlings in my little tent. They are all Trichocereus but many of them are not San Pedro types.

I'm using a small tent and a high bay LED light from a hardware store. Simple but effective.
Looking so good, I'm jelly. I want this for my next batch of seeds.

Moved all my plants in the middle of a rainstorm in 30° weather. I think they like being out of the weather! Here's where they'll live for the next 4 months or so, and soon there will be babies growing with them because somebody has been hoarding seeds

Just moved my babies in too. First freeze hit last night, moved them in day before last.
What's the best time of the year to purchase cuttings? I'd like to get some SS02 cuttings as a Christmas gift to myself. I saw they tend to be potent and more blue green than straight green like the ones I have going.
Maybe I should write Sacred Succulants and ask them for their advice as I intend to purchase through them anyway.

I buy and ship cacti all year round. You need to be aware of where you are purchasing them from (warm like California? Cold like New York? And keep that in mind when you get the plant.
As soon as your plant(s) arrive make sure to bring them inside. I use informed delivery and watch tracking numbers to know when my stuff is arriving, and then have someone grab my package and bring it inside immediately, you don't want your cuts/seedlings to sit in the cold!
If your plant has come from someplace warm you need to make sure to keep it a bit warmer, if from someplace cold, it doesn't need to be so warm right away. This is important because a plant from a warm climate is actively growing, and a cooler climate plant is already dormant. Taking note and growing accordingly will lessen any amount of etiolation

If the scion is much smaller than the rootstock can I cut an indent into the rootstock and place the scion in it instead of cutting them flat.

As long as the flesh that touches is flush yes. People usually do that with scions that are much larger than the rootstock tho, the opposite of what you're doing. The key thing is to make sure that the stock and scion are both flat even cuts (so if you make a wedge graft you wanna make sure the V cut of the scion matches the V cut of the stock)

Omar x Tig X Yowie

Almost all of them are in for the winter as of last night. Was pretty sure we were going to get a frost this morning but we were just shy of it, not going to push it tonight though, that low is much lower tonight, and with the rain, ugh.

It's about that time here too. Haven't brought them in yet, they're on the porches, except these few. Dropped down to 27F this morning but we shouldn't see anything close to that again for another week or 2...so they stay.
