I have some Trichocereus. The graft was done on September of 2015. Started growing cactus in '14. I think all of my bigger stuff is PC.

Sup guys quick question ,
I was told by someone I think it was on here that trichs and Lophs are so naturally in tune with the earths circadian rhythm and seasons and shit that where I am in Canada it's so unnatural for them to be growing here so when winter officially sets in they go into a real strong dormancy and won't grow no matter what I do including recreating the growing environment indoors. Is this true? Seems like it can't be to me.
I have the means to set them up in an environment controlled (heat, humidity, etc) grow tent with basically as much light as I want using whatever style (HPS, MH, CFL, etc..) I want. Are they still going to recognize I'm trying to trick them but it's still winter in Canada so dormancy is what they'll still decide? I feel like I'm misremembering what I was told cuz like I dunno that doesn't sound entirely accurate to me.
I have never tried to keep them growing in summer conditions indoors throughout the winter so is it the above true and would be giving them their own grow tent with everything they want gunna be a waste of my time, money, and floor space?

Pretty sure you can grow cacti indoors anywhere, it's just a matter of providing enough light and keeping them warm.
The issue is once cacti hit 1-2 years old and are fairly big it's really hard to give them enough light using just artificial lights.

I have these lights not in use: 1x 135w 10 spectrum LED 2x 300w full spectrum LED 1x 400w HPS 1x 600w HPS 1x 600w MH 2x 125w CFL 4500k I think (maybe 3 but I think one is pooched)
What's the minimum energy output they need to stay happy and not etiolate? Do they have a spectrum preference? I guess full spectrum is basically always best eh

If I were you I'd study posts by a member called, Intelligentlife. To date, he's the only person to really grow cactus under lights to a level that seems worth the effort. Otherwise people will usually just parrot what they've read.
Me personally, I wouldn't bother. Lophs yeah, sure, you can grow them under lights for a period of time. Trichocereus seedlings yes. Mature Trichocereus cuts and plants, don't bother. Better to leave them to go dormant and use the lights to grow something that will appreciate it and grow well under them.
I would use the lights to sow Trichocereus seed and grow Pereskiopsis with the aim of grafting them together. Once Spring rolls around you'll have some advanced plants ready to go outside. That's what I'd do anyway.

So is it cold temps I need to stop etiolated growth during long Canadian winters? Every summer I get gorgeous perfect growth with no etiolation whatsoever and then every winter they only go party dormant I guess because without fail every one of them puts out just enough shitty growth to fuck up the perfect columns. I want to find a way to stop them from growing in height at all over winter or otherwise find a way to grow them as vigorously as they do in summer so they just get bigger and don't etiolate. I dunno what to do.

No. the opposite. You'd want to increase the cold. If it's warm enough they will continue to grow and if light is insufficient then the growth will be etiolated.
Where are you keeping them over winter?

In the past I've kept them on a table near a window in my room. That has not worked out the way I'd like to see it so far.
So you are saying I need warm temps? How warm like warmer than room temp? And I need good light levels. Light shouldn't be an issue this year. I can put them under the 300w LED's..?

I think 40-50f+ is at least what you want to shoot for to keep them growing but 60-70f is probably safer.
Some cacti like bridgesii seem prone to rot in prolonged cold/ moist conditions.

Luckily I haven't experienced any rot during dormancy. Only had to deal with rot once and it's cuz I burried a bunch way too deep to try and hide the previous years etiolated growth under the soil.
I am currently dealing with a small breakout of black scan tho. It seem localized to only a handful but it's a bummer cuz it hit one of my most aestheticly pleasing peruvianus
Other than that the only injuries any have experienced are from falling in the wind or from me getting to eager to kickstart growth in spring and tossing them in the Cannabis veg tent with no hardening which I'm sure you can guess gives em some good ol sunburns lol
By the way what the fuck is the black scab from is it a fungus?

You probably mean weeping black rot, it's pretty common on bridgesii it seems. I think it's caused by excessive humidity, not sure what it is exactly though.

Let them dry out completely and once they get cold they will go to sleep.

Your room temps were high enough to keep them from going dormant and the low light levels you get through windows is what got them etiolating.
Got a garage or somewhere that gets cold enough to store them in?
All of the replies above contain good information too.
I don't know your climate well enough and if you get snow then I'm not qualified to give you advice. All of my Trichocereus are exposed to the elements and handle wet winters like a boss. I live in a temperate zone.

My only option for cold temps is my 10th floor balcony.. I can easily construct a small poly house of sorts and see if that keep the temps where I want it outside? I don't have control of the ambient temp in my apartment but I remember last winter it was hot all year the baseboard heaters were running almost nonstop. Sonyea my only option is outside on the balcony but it's Canada it might drop o -20 one night and stay like that for a week. If I build a small hut out of plastic frame and poly wrap maybe I can heat it small amounts with the hot air from inside? Cool it passively just from being outside. Sounds hard actually lol
