I'm in the PNW region as well. I have my trichs out for the summer. I have them on my balcony which is on the west side of the house. They don't get full sun until around 1:00 and then have it for the rest of the day. I haven't had any over exposure issues and they have sure benefited from being outside growth wise.
Do you haul yours in for the winter? If so, approximately when?
I do bring them in last year I cut my cactus and and had a couple cuttings that rooted. They stayed under a 450 viparspectra LED and room temps. I dont know if it was because they were either pupping or but I had no skinny growth like the year before.
This will be my 3rd year growing cactus in the wet PNW. Last year when ever it rained they came in under the covered parking area. I stopped watering when over night temp hits 45. Then they stayed outside until like the middle of Nov. When we had our first freeze. No water at all all winter. I did my best to keep any rain from touching them while cold. Until like april when they started going out side. With the leds I noticed no sunburn or acclimation. They took full sun right of the get go. This is for adult rooted trichs. From what I gather seedlings or unrooted cuttings will not handle the cold as well.
This year I have a few more plants. I will probably still use the Led for seedlings and unrooted cuttings. But the adults will stay out all year. I have a green house being delivered tomorrow. I plan to set the thermostat at 40 degrees and add some insulation.

This landfill took 7 months to throw up a puo. It was developing roots the while time, as soon as I repotted up came a pup. Should grow fairly fast and fat. Huge root system for such a small piece and much room to grow in the new bucket.

That's good to know. From seed to full grown cacti?

Bro, this is only, the begining. There is no rehab for this habit. So once its full blown, fuggedaboutit. Hope you have a healthy pocket book.
Yeah it's getting bad haha Looking for local shops that carry cacti, especially trichs. I know of somewhere that sells lophs, but they're expensive as fuck for something other then one plant, but they're flowering and such so. I'm saving up for one lol
I would say seedlings dont nessecarily like direct sun, and it may not be optimal for their growth. But they can survive some of it.

I spent maybe 400 euro in total for my entire collection throughout the last three years..
And the strongest cutting (thin 10" blew my mind!) was one of the cheapest I ever got.
400 for only one cutting is insane!

Thats pretty ridiculous they would charge that much. I mean exotic strains are great and worth a little more sometimes, but that's pretty excessive.
Nevertheless I'm sure you'll give her a good home. Enjoy your new cactus baby

And that's from eBay?... Who knows what you're actually getting.
You can get one direct from the sole supplier for $52.50 shipped to your door.
