It may be worth noting that these are planted on steep slopes - meaning rain drains fast and roots stay (supposedly) safer.

Good call lsoares!
What the largest four ribbed tricho u guys have seen? Its my understanding that 4 ribs hint towards malnutrition, right? What's your take on the subject... Special gem or nah?

Most 4 ribbed trichocereus will grow ribs once planted in the ground. Keep it in a pot to grow 4 ribs longer.
I think there may be 1 stable/fixed 4 ribbed clone but could be mistaken.

Yeah here in the southern California foothills it's difficult not to be on a slope. It also helps that the only rain we get is November through February. Rest of the year it's dry and hot. The lowest our temp gets in the winter is 40 degrees. Our climate zone is 9. Same as the areas these plants come from.

Another five weeks of new growth:

And my first graft. So far it looks promising, both plants are caloused and they stick together well. Will update as soon as new growth is noticed.

Very cool.. Anybody heard of a steady four ribber? What about pach or peruvian.. Ever seen a square one of those?? I'm just curious as to what everybody else thinks about them.. I have a couple of bridges and I hear Scops can do the same.

I have said it before, but I think it is all nonsense, they bounce back and forth with new ribs all the time. Show me a giant cluster of arms with 4 ribs from the same plant, I don't think it exists....nothing special about 4 ribs in my mind.

I do have a small 5 ribber bridge that has now gone to 4 for a couple inches, but I expect it to switch back.
I should also add I have not studied cactus and am simply going off from nothing but speculation....I look forward to receiving a cutting of your 4 ribber someday to sway me

The number of ribs in my opinion doesn't matter and never will. The coolest strains are the ones with high mescaline concentrations. Like my Ogun cut that is the highest content ever tested. That's why I'm really growing these things.

Different strokes, good sir. Ultra potent is what(probably) everyone seeks at first, but eventually that pales in comparison to extreme spines or the most magnificent blue.. Eventually, uniqueness will be just as important as potency, if you got it as bad as me.. Lol!

I've got a 4 ribbed bridgesii a little over a foot tall, when it gets bigger and I take a cut interested what the pups will do.
