Performed my first seedling grafts to peres a week or two ago and they were going fine in a plastic bag. Wind/rain last night toppled them over and the bag smothered them
Round two coming up.

You should start them inside on a heat mat in a seed tray with a dome top in low light. Make sure you use a well draining sterile mix (no manures, fertilizers, etc) and that you don't bury the seeds.

yes right on top. I never use anything with nutrient content for seed starting. I start mine is straight FINE pumice, but there are lots of other mixes people use.

If pumice is not available to you, Your regular mix will suffice.
(provided you mix your own, and you take out large pieces of 'drift')
As mentioned, Heat is vital. Low light, But not so little that it doesn't keep the vessel steamy looking if you don't use a heat mat. Let the sun heat your dirt
I use a window in my bathroom that gets direct morning light. Its one of the Frosted windows they use for bathrooms. If you have something similar its perfect for cacti seedlings. Or any windowsill In direct light, with a paper towel covering the vessel and bag. You want High temp and humidity.

Wally world find. $15. Its monstrose pach labeled san pedro.
I had been waiting for something like this. I got one in a trade but its light yellow colored. This one is dark green but shows no cresting. I hope this one will eventually show crest traits.

Omg I found one just like that at the home improvement store... it was labeled san pedro but It did not look like it. I was about to post here and ask for an I.D.

mine was $20 Soon as I saw it I put it straight into the cart. Its pretty big and is already making a few pups on the side.

I'm heading to the big box stores as soon as they open today. Doubt I'll find any monstrose pachs but the hunt continues. They're easily available online but it's kind of like finding your own mushrooms. It just makes it that much sweeter when you stumble across one yourself.
