I think mysubtleascention means, the humidity encourages roots to grow but don't put the cutting directly in the water. It is suspended above. I have seen a similar way for rooting, the cacti sit on a wire screen suspended above a wet substrate.

Inside the (unheated) greenhouse yes, basically giving them a free root run.
There is an 8 foot tall terscheckii in the ground outside in England, some pics are on the BCSS forum. A few species in other genus can survive with good placement and preparation too.

Are your bridgesii seed grown? I need to find me some specimens with awesome genetics like yours...

Trichocereus bridgesii

Trichocereus bridgesii

The top 2 were picked up at auction. These were the full stands.

The bottom ones were seed grown, sold in a local garden centre, the only time I have seen T. bridgesii there, 5 in a pot.

karode13 said: Wow. You have some truly sexy Trichocereus stashed amongst the Gymno's. Most of the id's I agree with. Just at a glance the "labeled as pach" looks similar to the "Trichocereus sp.(E.scopulicola)". More time growing will help though. You can see how your environmental conditions are giving variations in growth to their previous owners. I also don't feel like I'm growing my terscheckii wrong now I see how old that one of yours is and its size.
Thanks
The one that came labelled as E. scop is starting to green up a bit at the base now since a repot and partial shade.

1. Stand up in a clay pot, with no soil. 2. Place somewhere bright and warm. 3. Wait.

It is as simple as that, really.

Not a Trichocereus sp.
Perhaps a Myrtillocactus sp.

Look at how the areoles sit out on the ribs, and the thickness of the new spine growth, spine count, and taking into account the stem colour. My money would be on a Myrtillocactus sp. still. Fantastic colours on the new spine growth

The spine count is fairly high for a T. bridgesii?

Here is a 4 ribbed one, now rooted. It had 4 ribs the full length of the column, the base is twice the length, and rooting for pups. It was the only 4 ribbed stem on multi branched bridgesii.
