How much light is right?

I have a grow room with multiple mono tubs. Each of the mono tubs has a minimum of space between the casing and the top edge of the mono tub. So light in the room should effectively reach the top of the casing layer. I'm wondering how much light I need to put in this room for effective pinning, primordia formation and fruiting.
In the past I grew in basically a large Martha type set up. Where I installed several lights around the outside. It seemed that I did get better growth on trays that were closer to light and that the mushrooms seem to lean towards the light.
This is a bigger grow this time. The room is small and painted bright white and so there's a lot of reflection. The room itself is about 5 x 14'. But still I wondered what might be appropriate. All of the trays are on one side of the room. I thought I would put reflector lights on the other side with screw in fluorescent bulbs. I have several shelving units filled with trays. I thought that I would have one reflector light with a fluorescent bulb per shelving unit. And maybe a LED bulb in an overhead fixture for a little more variation in color temperature. That might be more than whats needed or not enough...?
Someone suggested to me at one point that light is only needed as a trigger to start primordial formation. And beyond that trigger the amount of light is really a lot less important.
Any suggestions by experienced large-scale cultivators(cubes) are greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

The amount of light is not nearly as important as the right color temperature.
You want anywhere from 5000K to 7000K lighting.
6500K Daylight CFL bulbs are the easiest and cheapest to find.

I use 3 of them with clamp-on domes in my closet for my monos...

Super. Thanks for the advice. Great pictures too!
What is that white layer on top the substrate in the tubs?

Mushroom mycellium, that is what happens when mycellium colonizes a substrate, it turns white.

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. What confused me is I usually go to fruit when the surface of my caseing is about 20 percent. That stuff looks really well done.

Mushrooms operate on a circadian rhythm just like humans. It's best to give them light when the temperature is also increasing. A day/night schedule of light and temperature increase/decrease works best. Your light schedule doesn't 'have' to be 12/12, but the experience gained from many thousands of grows shows that to be best.
Use a 'natural daylight' fluorescent lamp for best results, if your daylight from a window isn't bright enough. Contrary to bad advice given elsewhere, enough light to see with isn't nearly enough light for good performance. A little direct sunlight each day is great too. There's a lot of old myths about mushrooms 'growing in the dark', 'any old light will do', 'colonize in darkness', etc., that just won't die despite being totally incorrect for those of us who want best performance from all our hard work. RR
just posted this in another thread and thought u could use it too!!

I only fruit 2 tubs at a time and I keep them on a lower shelf behind the shelf that all my house plants are on that's built onto a window seal.
I also keep a few plants near them that are more low lighting plants. It's not direct sunshine but there is an almost constant filtered light on them for the entire time the sun is up. Works fine for me.
I used to use a T12 6500K double bulb shop light but it had rather poor results and was really bulky. I've switched to T5 for growing cacti and herbs and if I was growing anymore than just a couple tubs at once I'd highly recommend using one for it. I'd say a single 4 foot bulb could cover quite a few tubs with quite a little heat.
