Cocopeat for casing material in bucket or monotub
    #18001100 - 03/23/13 09:07 PM (11 years, 7 days ago)

Hello Shroomerites !

I want to know what you think about Cocopeat blocks for casing.
Is is like coco coir ? I saw one huge block (2 cubic feet, 59 quarts when hydrated) of that stuff at Canadian Tire. It was 1,70 $ for the whole block. I bought it without thinking.

And I want to know what is the volume of a single coco coir brick in the Damion5050 coir tek, so I can figure out the quantity to take from that huge brick I got if I can use it.

Thanks

Coconut husk, coco, coco peat, coco coir, coconut coir...all the same thing.

Coir is not used as casing layer material, it is used as a bulk substrate, it has nutrients, casing layers do not.

1 compressed brick weighs 650g, and when hydrated should expand to around 8 quarts.
