Trust
    #1797260 - 08/10/03 03:58 AM (14 years, 11 days ago)

What does Trust mean to you?

Who and/or what do you trust?

And do you trust until you have reason to mistrust, or do you mistrust until trust is acceptable?

trust, it means believing what a persons communicates to be true.

I trust my self, my family, friends (except the liars) and my g/f

I usually start at a semi-sceptic, and wait to see how the person behaves, based on the evidence i percieve, i make a judgement call.

Trust is something special.I feel i'm a good person and i rarely do anyone wrong .It gets bad when the people or things you put trust in turn around on you. This is the main cause when i do get depressed.

I create a hierarchy of trustworthiness: this is very trustworthy, this is probably trustworthy, this is less trustworthy, this is not trustworthy, etc.

I generally mistrust until the truth can be confirmed, or I trust only up to some acceptable risk level. At the highest levels of trustworthiness this is the same as trusting immediately.

On a social level I believe the exchange of trust works like a game: if you initially trust everyone as much as you can afford, then their subsequent actions will show how trustworthy they are. If you initally trust too little or too much, you will miss opportunities or will be taken advantage of, respectively.

And on a spiritual level, mutual trust can make you see yourself in others and others in yourself, which is good.

I think President Reagan said it best, paraphrasing a Russian proverb when negotiating nuclear arms treaties with the Soviet Union, "Trust. But verify."

I'm a pretty trusting guy, so I trust until I have reason not to, but every once un a while I get bad vibes from a guy, and I just don't trust him until he proves to be trustworthy.

I try to follow my intuition about individual people. Usually I assume that we would become friends somewhere down the road and I treat them accordingly, unless I get a bad or weird vibe from someone, then I usually clam up and leave them alone.

I think rhizoid marked it down quite well There are definately different levels of how much one trusts a person. I really never thought about this question before. Most of the time I generally get to know the person before the trust is even set. I won't put myself in a situation involving trust if I don't know anything about their character.

I only trust certain friends that I have beccause a lot of them judge and are self-rightous (sp?). If I can trust a person not to judge me in ways most people do, then I know at least that they aren't totally out for themselves.

--------------------
Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.---senior doobie

One one mushrooms I realised I had entrusted in a friend some information about myself. I felt a little uneasy, as here was this sepreate being going around with this information about me their head which would be communicated to anyone.

You can usually get a certain vibe off people when you first meet them wich tells you who they are and how you can trust them. I like to think that i trust everyone until they prove untrustworthy, but I dont trust them with important stuff, as that could leave me assed out, in jail, or dead. After a while, some people will raise above and beyond your standards, and as long as you show the same respect and trust back it will develop into a good relationship. Nothing is better than someone you can trust with about anything, it feels good to know that you are in something together, till the end.

Ahh, welcome to the world of Ideas.... Everything came from one Idea, subdivided into more and more Ideas.. an Idea creates a new Idea, which is taken by a different Idea, formed into a new Idea to fit his needs... Ideas, Ideas, Ideas! Some are held common by many Ideas, some Ideas are only held by one Idea, or no Ideas at all. Eveything is an Idea, the Idea of Everything is an Idea....

Ahh, what the Universe must look like from a view outside of the Universe (which, hehe, is just an Idea)... like computer code in the Matrix.... Anyone identify with me here?
Peace.
