I have just recently started hunting shrooms. I had a friend take me to a field and showed me what they looked like and how to find them. As a general rule of thumb if you can see the mushroom from 4-5 feet away it probaly aint a cube. Cubes that I have found in fields have been hidden in deeper grass and are just under the top of the grass. All of the cubes that I have found have been within 1-2 feet from where I was standing. So you have to do LOTS of walking in a field that has them, 100-200 steps for each patch. Wait untill it rains hard, not a light shower, a good soaking rain. Give them 1.5-2 days then check the field daily for the next 2-3 days. I waited too long after the last rain and only found 6-7 good shrooms. I found several large patches that has 3-5 shrooms in it but all but 1 or 2 would be black from the sun. Had I been there 2 days earlier I would have hit the mother load for mid summer. I guess I could have had 15-30 good shrooms had I gotten there sooner. TIMING IS CRITICAL!
The next time it rains good I'll go hunting. If I find some I'll get some pix for you. Why wouldnt cubes grow in Ark. We have more humidity than we need. As long as it doesnt get too hot the cubes should be there.
