isn't it funny because that is what all newbs ask "how long"
what strain are you using?when did you inoculate the jar?and whats the temp?
after you see growth let it colonize for 3-4 days then shake it to spread the mycelium through out the jar and do so till it is about 60+% colonized is when I stop shaking it although there is people that go to 80%
this will speed up growth ALOT!

Are you doing brf/verm in a quart jar? That doesn't look like grain to me.

alot of open air increases the risk for contamination and creates a space for the moisture to evaporate into which will dry out the cakes...i don't see a dry verm layer on top of the brf...shamanorrhea meant that your jar looks sickly if it was a rye jar...you don't shake brf jars...that only applies to whole grain substrates...optimum incubating temperature is 86F kept in the dark...how big is that jar? did you run out of brf and verm?

i followed the instructions i found in this guild:

except i doubled the ammount of brf/verm in the jars.
the quild suggested self sealing, wide mouth mason jars and im not sure how big they are(dont know the measurements)
wat do you suggest i do?

where did you get the spores from? unelss you used a whole syringe in that jar, you can restart. You have to have left over verm and BRF.
just wash out that jar.
edit- im pretty sure that is a quart jar...use a jelly jar or something if you can't afford a smaller one. just stick that one in the closet and forget about it for awhile
