Ok first off, it's NOT safe to just go around touching your cakes freely, especially in the colonization period. LEAVE THEM ALONE. put them in the dark and leave them the hell alone, ofcourse they're gonna feel like 'regular old cake' its only been 3 days and its still watery substrate.

I should have explained my situation better. You see I haven't innoculated my jars yet and I actually made 7 jars but took one out to test the moistness and as I said before it felt like a cake as in one you would eat and I was wondering if that was moist enough. I'm probably just being really paranoid but come on it is my first time growing shrooms.

Just follow the MMGG recipe and you'll be fine.
