It depends on what you mean by "total ego loss". If you mean that the ability to see any boundary between the individual body and its surroundings vanishes completely, then yes this person will have serious problems putting food into his mouth. Like, why put the spoon in the mouth and not in a hole in the ground, if everything is one and the same anyway?

But if ego loss is understood as the change of perspective you get when you see that the self is a mental construct like any other mental construct, and when you stop being attached to the ego (which removes its direct control), but the ego is still hanging around as a tool and a reference, then there is no problem surviving or communicating.

It's funny though that both Buddha and Jesus liked to talk about themselves in the third person, according to the scriptures. Buddha called himself "Tathagata" which means "the one who is gone", and Jesus called himself "Bar Nasha" which means "the son of man".

ego = point of veiw

enlightment = understanding

losing your ego amounts to understanding a paradox that cannot be comprehended with a point of veiw.
